The Guardians and Royals have value to the over in game 2 of their DH. Both starting pitchers have been a struggle this season and with humid temps expected, this should be a game where the ball will fly out of the ballpark. Logan Allen has been a typical back end of the rotation guy who will look to go around 4-5 innings and give up 3 runs. This Royals offense is good and will cause him a ton of issues. Marsh has been equally as bad. Cleveland’s offense picked things up over the last 2 games and they have hit much better at home. Look for a high scoring night at Progressive Field.
Jack's Free Pick Monday: Cubs/Pirates OVER 8.5 -115
Two struggling starting pitchers go up against two hot offenses today in what should be a high-scoring Game 1 between the Cubs and Pirates. The Cubs have scored a total of 32 runs in winning three of their last four games. The Pirates have scored a total of 19 runs in winning three of their last four games.
Jameson Taillon has allowed 20 earned runs and 7 homers in 26 1/3 innings for a 6.84 ERA in his last five starts for the Cubs. Taillon has allowed 11 earned runs and 5 homers in 16 innings in his last three starts against the Pirates as well.
Mitch Keller has allowed 15 earned runs and 4 homers in 16 innings in his last three starts for a 8.44 ERA. Keller has allowed 9 earned runs and 2 homers in 11 2/3 innings in his last two starts against the Cubs as well. Bet the OVER in this game Monday.
I'm betting the Pirates -109 on the money line in Monday's series opener at home against the Cubs. Pittsburgh should be a much bigger favorite in this one. Chicago's sending out the struggling Jameson Taillon, who has an ugly 6.84 ERA over his last 5 starts (allowed 4 or more runs in 4 of those 5 outings). Pittsburgh will counter with Mitch Keller, who has been a bit of a mixed bag. Over his last 5 starts, he's had two clunkers, but in the other 3 he's given up 2 or fewer ER. He was great in his last start, allowing just 3 hits over 7 scoreless innings against the Rangers. I like him to shut this Cub lineup down. Give me the Pirates -109!
At Professionalsportspicks we see a future where those handicapping sports without advanced analytics and data-driven strategies will be left behind.
Our data-driven picks use data integration, search and discovery, and knowledge management along with collaboration with our in-house handicappers. By isolating relevant trends, removing human bias, and targeting only lines with a positive expected value above a certain threshold, our data-driven picks promise to outperform any and all human competitors.
Our models suggest that the value is on the Underdog. The Blue Jays are 5-1 in their last 6 games. The Red Sox are 2-5 in their last 7 games.
