    #2
    Brian W. Spencer's Daily Picks

Presque Isle Downs - Race #1
#3 Slainte Mhath She might be heading the wrong way after a couple dull tries, but she looks like the controlling tempo on the move back around two turns in a race with zero other serious pace. Race flow call.
#4 Most Divine She'll try this level for the first time, but I'm not super convinced that the $15,000 and $7,500 levels here are all that different from each other most days. Can win in a weak spot, but she might be overbet.
#7 Precious Grace Not impossible from the outside, she has at least been running on with a little energy late in her races and wasn't terrible around two turns in her career debut at Tampa earlier this year. Wouldn't argue *too* hard with anyone landing here.
Race Summary Slainte Mhath should be able to control this one from the start, and she's not that far removed from a couple tries that would hit hard against this bunch. Enough to like.
Presque Isle Downs - Race #3
#3 Spoken Vow Interested to see if she can bring something better sprinting with a couple route races under her belt, as she has a little bit of sharp route pace cutting back in a cheap spot. Maybe.
#8 Needed Your call entirely. The form fits, and she should be in another perfect spot, but she was 20 cents on the dollar last time out when no serious threat to a winner who was finally graduating in her 14th career start. Dangerous player at a short price.
#2 Hope She Comes She's had a lot of chances already, but her form is fairly honest for this kind of level, and she should be plugging away again for another piece. Tough to be too excited, but she's in the mix.
Race Summary Spoken Vow has a little bit of turnback appeal in a race where the likely chalk probably takes more action than she should with a couple short-priced losses without excuses on her page.
Presque Isle Downs - Race #8
#1 Bacall Her form seemed to turn a bit in the right direction in those last two when getting her feet over the local surface, and she might still offer another playable, midrange price with this group. Lots to like.
#5 Indian Spideroo Pace is a good fit here and caught a winner who has really come into her own in that last one, but this footing doesn't always play the best to speed, and she's not exactly known for finishing her races with a lot of interest. Iffy for me.
#7 Blah Blah World She's back to face winners for the first time in a very reasonable spot, and I loved the way she moved when getting around two turns for that easy score last time out. Want her covered on the main plays.
Race Summary Bacall and Blah Blah World might be the right two to use to take a bit of a stand against Indian Spideroo's seemingly dangerous, but vulnerable, pace.

      Frank Carulli's Daily Picks

      Delaware Park - Race #1
#1 EDWARD MADDEN (10-1) Switches surfaces, re-run of prior $5k dirt sprint at Delaware fits well.
#6 STRIKING SPEED (2-1) Joins class droppers, set pace and tired as twice-beaten fave out of town.
#4 SAINTHOODFORBRIAN (3-1) Dull try despite poor start, takes the class plunge.
Race Summary EDWARD MADDEN drops down to the level at which he was claimed from this barn last fall. He spent most of his time picking up checks on the turf since then, but in that aforementioned race, he finished second to Remembering Wilbur (9-33, $186k), who won an $8,000 optional claiming sprint here and a starter allowance at Laurel Park recently. Bet to win and place.
      Delaware Park - Race #2
#4 ENGLISH BOB (4-1) Couldn’t sustain bid off layoff against better, could do it in shorter route today.
#2 NAUTILUS (5-2) Now 9-for-23 on dirt after one-mile win at Colonial, should sit good stalking trip.
#8 DESANTIS (8-1) Steps up off the claim, will need passing gear from the outside.
Race Summary ENGLISH BOB made a 3-wide run at the pace-setting favorite on the turn in a deeper field at Monmouth but flattened out while a pair of deep closers got the money. The same type of move could produce a victory in his second start after four months away. Bet to win and place and play a 2-4-8 exacta box.
      Delaware Park - Race #4
#4 HE’S IN CHARGE (4-1) Pulled away in same spot off Ness claim, lost long duel in follow-up route.
#8 SASSY LAD (2-1) Paid off on claim already, perfectly spotted in bid for fourth win in a row.
#2 GEAUX YOSHKA (8-1) Packs late kick, use underneath in all gimmicks at tempting price.
Race Summary HE’S IN CHARGE ‘responded when asked’ to draw away from the 7-to-5 second favorite two starts back at this distance. He dueled with the 3-1 winner from the far turn to the sixteenth pole last out going a route of ground. Bet to win and place and play 4-2 and 4-8 exactas.

            Race 2 - Claiming - 6.0f on the Dirt. Purse: $17500 Class Rating: 75

FOR THREE YEAR OLDS AND UPWARD WHICH HAVE NEVER WON TWO RACES. THREE YEAR OLDS, 121 LBS.; OLDER, 124 LBS. CLAIMING PRICE $11,000, FOR EACH $1,000 TO $9,000 2 LBS.

            # 6 PENTANGELI 7/2
            # 4 BROKENHEARTED 8/1
LAST DRINK looks to be a strong contender. Has very good Equibase Class Figures relative to this group of horses in this race - worth a look. This conditioner has done very well recently with entries racing at this distance and surface. Harkie has been hot the last month, winning at a nifty 15 percent rate. PENTANGELI - He has been running solidly and the Equibase Speed Figures are among the most favorable in this field. With a very good 68 speed figure last time out, will definitely be a factor in this outing. BROKENHEARTED - Could best this group based on the Equibase Speed Fig - 61 - of his last outing.

Race 4 - Maiden Special Weight - 5.5f on the Dirt. Purse: $20000 Class Rating: 65

FOR MAIDENS, TWO YEARS OLD. WEIGHT, 122 LBS.
              RECOMMENDED CHOICES
              # 1 SILVERCREEK KID 3/1
              # 2 RED ROAD RUNNER 6/5
              # 6 TURN IT LOOSE 10/1
SILVERCREEK KID looks to be the wager in here. With Stephenson aboard him, this gelding will most likely be able to break out quickly for this event. Could best this group here, showing very good figs of late. Has earned formidable Speed Figures in dirt sprint races in the past. RED ROAD RUNNER - He ought to be carefully examined given the solid speed figs. Has to be considered - I like the figures from the last race.

                Thistledown - Race #5 - Post: 2:50pm - Claiming - 6.0 furlongs on the Dirt. Purse: $17,900 Class Rating: 58

                Rating:

                #2 SPIRIT OF AKRON (ML=9/5)
                #5 LOTSA MATCHA (ML=12/1)

SPIRIT OF AKRON - Taking a trip down the ladder based on class rating points; has the class ability to make his presence felt. LOTSA MATCHA - This racer earns a lot of money per start. I believe he can add to the lifetime earnings right here.

                Vulnerable Contenders: #4 A PRAYER FOR KIDS (ML=2/1), #1 AFLEET O ME (ML=7/2), #3 TAMMY'S TOY (ML=5/1),

A PRAYER FOR KIDS - Difficult to keep chasing this kind of 'bridesmaid' horse. No pace in this event to help this closer's hopes. Don't believe this less than sharp equine will make a winning move in today's race. That last speed figure was pedestrian when compared with today's class rating. AFLEET O ME - Would have to perk up off that third place finish last time to make an impact here. TAMMY'S TOY - Really had to give me a whole lot more last race out. Never made much of an impact.

GUEST COMMENTARY: The Brain - SPIRIT OF AKRON - This equine has sole speed. Keep that in the forefront of your mind when you place your investment.

STRAIGHT WAGERS: Have to go with #2 SPIRIT OF AKRON on the win end if we get at least 3/2 odds

                  Mountaineer Park - Race #1 - Post: 7:00pm - Maiden Special - 8.0 furlongs on the Turf. Purse: $16,500 Class Rating: 74

                  Rating:

                  #8 FINNERS GOLDNSENSE (ML=9/2)
                  #11 NOBLE GEM (ML=5/2)

FINNERS GOLDNSENSE - This animal could be close at the end. He's got a fabulous late kick. Fits well considering the fact that the last time he tried this distance he got a rating good enough to win today. This thoroughbred has recorded the best recent turf speed rating at the distance-surface. Shows a classic training maneuver. Routing today after two sprint races. NOBLE GEM - Morris drops him down to this level. You don't need too much more information to believe this animal should run well at this level. Running 1 mile on the grass, you've have to look at horse's turf figures. This one has the tops in the bunch.

                  Vulnerable Contenders: #9 ELEVATED CAUSEWAY (ML=2/1), #5 BALLOT BOX (ML=3/1), #4 SOOEY STRONG (ML=5/1),

ELEVATED CAUSEWAY - You should normally wager against probable favorites that haven't raced or show no activity in the morning over the last few weeks. Tough to put your money on the win end of any thoroughbred that finishes second and third as often as this entrant does. This gelding garnered a fig in his last clash which likely isn't good enough in today's event. This gelding hasn't been getting the job done as the public's choice. BALLOT BOX - This racer hasn't had nary a blow out after running so well on Aug 26th. SOOEY STRONG - Didn't perform too well last out. Probably won't make an impact today.

GUEST COMMENTARY: The Turf Man - FINNERS GOLDNSENSE - I always consider the entrant with the highest average class rating in turf races. Should be a part of it today.

STRAIGHT WAGERS: #8 FINNERS GOLDNSENSE is the play if we get odds of 7/5 or better
                  EXACTA WAGERS: Box [8,11]
