5 Unit Play Take Boston College -6.5 over Michigan State (8:00pm est):

There may not be a team that's impressed me more so far this CFB season than Boston College. The Eagles have played much better than I expected in their first three games going 2-1 straight-up and 3-0 against the spread while covering the number by more than 14 points per game on average. This is a veteran group that returned 17 starters from last year's 7-6 squad and look to be even better than this season. On the other side of things Michigan State comes into this game 3-0 but they've covered the spread just once in their first three contests in what looks to be a rebuilding year for the Spartans.

Lay the number with Boston College.

4 Unit Play Take Kansas +2 over West Virginia (12:00pm est):

I think the wrong team is favored in this one. Kansas comes in off back to back losses but I felt they should have won both of those games as they out-gained each of those foes but were done in by turnovers. The Jayhawks were a solid underdog team last year covering the spread four of five times when a dog in a game.

Play Kansas plus the number.

3 Unit Play Take James Madison +10.5 over North Carolina (12:00pm est):

James Madison has had two weeks to prepare for this game. The Dukes are a quality program who won't lay down against anyone. They are off to a 2-0 start to this season and have quietly went 16-1 overall in their last 17 regular season games with the lone loss coming in overtime by just 3 points. North Carolina is off to a 3-0 start to the year but they've not looked impressive as they've failed to cover the point spread in any of their games. The Tar Heels offense has really struggled and I think they will have a hard time here winning by margin over a feisty foe in this one.

Take James Madison plus the points.

3 Unit Play Take Army -6 over Rice (12:00pm est):

Rice got badly pushed around up front last game and they could be in trouble here against an Army team that's starting to look very good. The Black Knights had a couple of down years but early on look like they could be strong this season. Not to mention Army also has had a week off to prepare and come in fresh for this contest.

3 Unit Play Take East Carolina +6.5 over Liberty (6:00pm est):

Liberty is off to a 3-0 start to the season but they have not looked good as they've failed to cover the point spread in any of their games and have failed to do so by an average of 15 points per game. They face off here against a much improved East Carolina team in this one. ECU blew a 16-0 lead last week to Appalachian State but overall I grade every CFB game and feel they've looked like the better team so far this season between these two squads so getting this many points in this one is solid value.

Take East Carolina plus the points.

3 Unit Play Take Western Kentucky +2.5 over Toledo (7:00pm est):

Toledo lost a ton of talent from last year and they looked out of sync to start the season. They did get right last week pummeling Mississippi State but I'm not buying this Rockets team as they look to be way down this year. Western Kentucky got a much needed shot in the arm last week at the QB position and look to be a better team now because of it. Getting points at home here in a game I feel they are the slightly better team is a good bet.

4-Unit Play - BYU +6.5-110 over Kansas State (Saturday, September 21, 2024, 10:30 pm ET)

Take BYU ATS as my top college football pick for Saturday. This pick falls into one of my top college football systems and I really like BYU in the spot at home here Saturday night. BYU is coming off an impressive victory at Wyoming where they held Wyoming to just 14 points covering the spread by 10.5 points in that game. Keep in mind BYU did have 9 penalties totaling 80 yards in that victory putting up 318 passing yards and rushing for 140 yards. I would not be shocked to see BYU pull off the upset at home here Saturday night. Play BYU ATS

2 Unit Play. Take Cincinnati Bearcats -3.5 over Houston Cougars (12p.m., Saturday, September 21 FS1) Just not a fan of this Houston team, as it has a new coach and already some bad losses on the year. Cincinnati has beaten Houston in the last 4 meetings (4-0 ATS as well) and are just a year ahead of Houston, who struggles to score points. Both teams want to start off conference play with a victory, but playing at home will allow the Bearcats to win by more than a touchdown.

3 Unit Play. Take Virginia Tech Hokies -3.5 over Rutgers Scarlet Knights (3:30p.m., Saturday, September 21 ACCN) Virginia Tech laid an egg in their opening game against Vanderbilt, but they have recovered since then and I expect them to take care of business against Rutgers on Saturday. The Hokies have beaten the Scarlet Knights in 12 of the last 13 matchups (lost last year). Virginia Tech needs this game more and they will get it with their experience.

6 Unit Play. Take BYU Cougars +6.5 over Kansas State Wildcats (10:30p.m., Saturday, September 21 ESPN) Just feel this is a letdown spot for Kansas State coming off a dominating win against Arizona last Friday night. BYU has a win over SMU and a strong quarterback in Jake Retzlaff, a player who already has 7 touchdowns on the season. Kansas State is just 2-6 ATS in their last 8 road games when they are favored by 12 points or less. BYU has a strong homefield advantage and won their last 3 home games straight-up when they are an underdog. Look for them to stop the K-State rushing attack and win this game straight-up for the fourth straight home game when they are the underdog.

7 Unit Play. Take Arkansas Razorbacks +2.5 over Auburn Tigers (3:30p.m., Saturday, September 21 ESPN) TOP NCAA PLAY OF THE WEEKEND Just play the visitor blind in Arkansas games, as they are on a 16-0 ATS run the last 16 Arkansas games. The Hogs got destroyed by the Tigers last year in Fayetteville, and this presents a great revenge angle for this game. Auburn already lost at home to Cal, and they have two brutal games on deck (Oklahoma & Georgia). The Tigers have lost 11 home games in the last 3 years. Arkansas has the experience at quarterback, and look for that dual threat quarterback in Taylen Green to pay dividends in this game. Arkansas is just a different team on the road, as they play with less pressure and Coach Pittman will get the job done.

4 Unit Play. Take Michigan Wolverines +5.5 over USC Trojans (3:30p.m., Saturday, September 21 CBS)This line has come down, and I do not see Michigan getting run out of their home stadium for the second time in four weeks. Michigan made a quarterback change, and that should bring some life into this offense. USC was fortunate to beat LSU in the season opener, but we have seen that LSU is not that good this season. I still expect Michigan to control the trenches in this game and that will allow them to take this one right down to the wire. Michigan needs this game more, and that is the deciding factor for this selection.

2 Unit Play. Take Sam Houston State Bearkats -16.5 over New Mexico State Aggies (7p.m., Saturday, September 21 ESPN+) This is a straight fade against New Mexico State, one of the worst teams in FBS. They got blown out by an average Fresno State team last weekend, 48-0, and we feel this will be another blowout. This is their second straight road game, and both of the Bearkats wins have come by more than today's posted number. SHS also have losing to NMSU last year. The Aggies were outgained 525-138 last week and also allowed 11 sacks. This will be a blowout.
