    #2
    Brian W. Spencer's Daily Picks

    Churchill Downs - Race #7
#2 Fearless Lady Like the way she moved forward at second asking when sent going long, and she should be in line for a great trip while right up on whatever pace there is. Another small step in the right direction would probably do the trick today.
#1 Tiger Division She didn't stay on with a ton of enthusiasm late in the only route try, but that came on the turf where she turned in a couple lesser tries before moving to the dirt. Enough logical appeal in the first dirt route.
#6 Multiplication She might be the controlling pace again here, but she'll have to stick around a bit better this time if she's going to turn the tables on the one drawn outside her.
Race Summary Fearless Lady progressed well in her second start, and I think she's going to get a dreamy run of things right off of Multiplication.
    Churchill Downs - Race #9
#10 Bourbon Boss Forward player got brave to score in that first route trip, and there are a handful of pretty decent names in his company lines overall. Willing to take that last one at face value and hope he can control this one the whole way right back while facing winners.
#8 Royal Sandrin Finisher turned in a good effort on the rise last out and fits here again today. Mild worry about the race flow, but he's in the mix on paper.
#7 Navy Seal He wasn't embarrassed in Grade III company last time out, and he was competitive with a similar group at Saratoga two starts back. Think something like that will make him a player with these again.
Race Summary Bourbon Boss looked good winning in his first turf route try, and I'm hoping he's quick enough to force the other forward types to try to rate and press a bit.
    Churchill Downs - Race #10
#3 Catchphrase She has been working regularly at Turfway ahead of this, and I think the price should be fair enough with a couple logical players drawn in here who should take some cash.
#2 Here'syourtrouble She finished up with a little bit of energy in the debut at the 2023 Saratoga meet, and she caught the eventual Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies winner Just F Y I that day, so I expect her to stack up pretty well with this group off the bench today.
#1 Upon a Star He and #6 Lord I Wonder both make a lot of sense and have similar profiles with a little bit of forward pace. Respect the team and the running lines, but I worry the price won't be fair.
Race Summary Catchphrase and Here'syourtrouble are the two most appealing for me in here, and I'm hoping the presence of decent running lines from Upon a Star and Lord I Wonder will help keep the prices somewhat playable.

      #3
      Frank Carulli's Daily Picks

      Penn National - Race #1
#2 TROPHY ROOM (5-1) Been winning the close ones, steps up after joining $100,000 Club.
#5 ONE WAY FARRIOR (9-5) Overcame rough trip to win at Laurel in second start off the claim.
#3 DEE JAY (2-1) Raced 4-wide, went down fighting against winning fave at this level three back.
Race Summary TROPHY ROOM rallied to win three of his last four sprints in photo finishes, catching short-priced pace setters twice. He retains good betting value on the class rise with similar rest since his last start. Bet to win and place and play 2-4, 2-5 and 5-2 exactas.
      Penn National - Race #4
#8 SAPONARA (5-1) Duplicate of latest could be enough with an extra half-furlong to travel.
#1 I ONCE STOOD ALONE (4-1) Runs well fresh, earned top speed fig while geared down in latest.
#2 POSITIVELY AWESOME (6-1) Can be excused for latest, hit best stride prior to that.
Race Summary SAPONARA has run some good races at Penn National this year but seldom strings together two good ones. He bid 4-wide on the turn off a six-week layoff, gained late on the winner and held off the 3-to-5 favorite to finish second at 5-1/2F last out. Bet to win and place and play a 1-2-8 exacta box.
      Penn National - Race #5
#7 HIDDEN CACHE (4-1) Dead game in winning long sprint on the front end, can handle class rise.
#6 TOOTALOO KANGAROO (5-2) Likes Penn National, earned top speed figure in narrow defeat.
#2 WEST ABBOTT (5-1) Has good speed, has yet to carry it to victory in five starts at this distance.
Race Summary HIDDEN CACHE was collared on the turn and found more to hold off the deep closers and win at 7F for her new connections. She is unproven in allowance company but could be poised for a breakthrough with a 3-for-10 record and $75,920 bankroll this year. Bet to win and place.

            # 3 TAKE IT TO COURT 8/1
            # 4 DAT'S A GOODE ONE 4/1
I give my vote to CHUCHI in here especially at a such a nice price. TAKE IT TO COURT - She has been running strongly and the speed figures are among the best in this field. With a nice class rating average of 68, has one of the top class advantages in this group. DAT'S A GOODE ONE - Has to be given a chance versus this group of horses displaying very good figures lately and an average Equibase Speed Fig of 62 under similar conditions. Earning some nice money in dirt sprint races.

              Penn National - Race #1 - Post: 6:15pm - Claiming - 6.0 furlongs on the Dirt. Purse: $21,000 Class Rating: 88

              Rating:

              #7 GENGHIS (ML=8/1)
              #6 I KNOW MAP (ML=6/1)
              #2 TROPHY ROOM (ML=5/1)
              #5 ONE WAY FARRIOR (ML=9/5)

GENGHIS - He'll be laying in perfect stalking position, right behind the early speed. Have to like the way Kravets has raced this gelding back into shape off the layoff. Equine is well spotted in this sprint and I think he'll run well today. I KNOW MAP - Faced tougher in the last race at Penn National. Based on Equibase class figures, this is a weaker group, so I will put this one on my list of contenders in this race. TROPHY ROOM - The jockey and conditioner combination have a beneficial ROI when they combine forces. Torres comes to saddle up after getting to know the gelding in the last event. McClellan must have known this gelding would run well at this track. Won his last race here on Oct 24th and now goes for back-to-back wins. I like to wager on this angle, a pony coming back off a solid outing within the last 30 days. 61-65-87 are last three speed figs. Improving each time out is something he should do again in this event. ONE WAY FARRIOR - Just see his most recent speed fig, 88. That one fits in this group. Ranks at the top in earnings per start. A solid try right here will add to that bankroll. This horse has increased his speed figs in each of the last two races. That kind of progress is worth taking a look at.

Vulnerable Contenders: #3 DEE JAY (ML=2/1),

DEE JAY - Should have at least finished in the money in the last sixty days in a sprint race to be worth the chance at low odds in a sprint. This gelding showed little last time.
STRAIGHT WAGERS: #7 GENGHIS to win at post-time odds of 4/1 or better

                # 10 WEGOTTATALK 5/2
                # 5 PRIZED SPIRIT 4/1
FANNY M supports the wager in here. Looks very strong for the conditions of this race today, showing solid figs in dirt sprint races recently. Could provide positive profits based on decent recent Equibase Speed Figures with an average of 53. Ran a solid last race. PRIZED SPIRIT - Is hard not to look at given the company run in lately. I would give my vote to this filly on the jockey and conditioner numbers alone.

                  Churchill Downs - Race #3 - Post: 1:58pm - Maiden Claiming - 7.5 furlongs on the Dirt. Purse: $42,000 Class Rating: 74

                  Rating:

                  #5 MAN OF MISCHIEF (ML=3/1)
                  #11 GOLDEN ICE (ML=12/1)

MAN OF MISCHIEF - Faced tougher last time around the track at Belmont at the Big A. Based on class figures, this is a weaker field, so I will put this horse on my list of contenders in this race. Is ranked highest in earnings per start (EPS). A dominant effort right here can add to that total. GOLDEN ICE - This rider and trainer's animals have been producing a profitable return on investment. With 'blinkers-on' this colt should be very competitive.

Vulnerable Contenders: #9 STORM THE STREETS (ML=7/2), #1 HAUNTED FLAME (ML=4/1), #6 WINTER CREEK (ML=5/1),

STORM THE STREETS - This gelding has already been beaten as the chalk twice in a row. Hard to give him another chance. Doubtful for this one to make an impact with no recent success in a short distance race. HAUNTED FLAME - This colt finished out of the money on Jul 5th and wasn't close to victory in the last race either. WINTER CREEK - This colt hasn't had any recent accomplishments in sprint affairs. Not easy to play him in this race.
STRAIGHT WAGERS: #5 MAN OF MISCHIEF to win at post-time odds of 5/2 or better
