Fair Grounds - Race #5

#8 Star Star Star	Tactical type showed something better at Louisiana Downs this summer, and he might find a good trip near the top in a race without a ton of confirmed pace. Should handle the new footing.
#10 Ice'm Up Boys	He finished up well enough in the summer debut, and he at least has some proven form going long on the grass already. Nothing wrong with getting Ortiz up -- he has been making the most of turf route opportunities so far.
#5 Aries Honor	He moved forward a bit when getting around two turns against a cheaper bunch this summer, but I'm not sure that effort is too far off what it would take to land a share on the rise. Interesting for a piece at a price.
Race Summary	Star Star Star moves to turf for the first time in what feels like a modest enough race for the level, and he should trip out while right up on the splits early.

Fair Grounds - Race #7

#10 Cairo Dream	She never picked up on the dirt in Louisville last out, but she showed some solid acceleration when rolling a soft group in the Hawthorne debut on the grass in September. Excited to see what she's made of while getting back on the turf.
#5 Garnet and Gold	She looks like a player with a couple easy Presque Isle scores on the page from earlier this year, but she'll probably take a little cash with Ortiz up and has at least a little bit of proving to do on class today.
#7 Notice Me Too	Pace is always a bit suspect late, but she held sway easily last out in the graduation run and might be one of the more committed pace types lined up. Not impossible -- price might be just fair enough.
Race Summary	Cairo Dream impressed in the debut before a non-effort on the main at Churchill, and I think she'll get a decent spying trip from her outside draw today.

Fair Grounds - Race #8

#5 Randy Daytona	I wrongly expected better from him in the debut at 48/1, but he was never involved that day. He drops into a reasonable spot for the second start and comes back pretty quickly -- hoping there are enough good signs to wheel back to a previous opinion that didn't play out well.
#2 Final Half	Considered him on top in this one, but I worry that the race flow might lead him to taking a bit of heat from the outside. Still, he flashed a little chasing speed before folding up in the debut try and could stick around a lot better on the drop with that race under his belt. On the tickets.
#6 Maximum Grace	Something like her last might do the trick while cutting the tag more than in half today, but I have a mild worry about her ability at a quicker one-turn tempo. Tricky call for me today.
Race Summary	Randy Daytona gets a quick drop after a dismal debut run, but there are a couple suspect runners in here who are likely to take cash, and I'm willing to give him another chance to find anything in the tank.

Win percentage under similar conditions may be the key for this filly. KANT HURRY LOVE - She looks formidable in this spot and I expect will be on the lead or close at the midpoint. Has been close on the wire most every time recently. ST. BENEDICTS PREP - The Lasix change (now going off Lasix) may spark a comeback for this filly. Should be given a chance based on the very good speed figure earned in the last contest.

VERMEER looks to be a formidable contender. Is worth considering and may be a wager - strong Equibase Speed Figures (73 average) at today's distance and surface recently. He has been running admirably and the Speed Figures are among the most competitive in this field. Has to be given a shot - I like the figures from the last race. FAMOUS ROCK STAR - I expect a very good performance from this pony whose handler has one of the best ROI percentages with horses running at this distance and surface. He looks formidable in this spot and I expect will be on the lead or close at the midpoint. SEIGE THE DAY - The winning percentage shown by horses entered by Aquino running at this distance are the most respectable in this group. Aquino has shown excellent profits (+4 ROI ) at this distance/surface.

MUCHO MAGNIFICO - Have to make this gelding a win candidate; he comes off a solid outing on November 22nd. Last race Nov 22nd was pretty strong for a $7,500 Maiden Claiming race so this gelding's race wasn't all that bad. SO CALLED VACATION - I like that last effort on November 22nd at Woodbine where he finished third. He has the highest earnings per start. Check out this thoroughbred. VINI VIDI VICI - I like to wager on this angle, a thoroughbred coming back off a strong outing within the last month. Took a class drop last time out at Woodbine. Drexler keeps him at the same level right here. I think that's a good move. Lets try to beat the probable favorites with this gelding. Just missed last out, but ran a decent race. HELLO LADIES - The Oct 25th clash at Woodbine was at a class level of (72). Dropping to a lower level considerably, so he should be in a good spot to win. McKnight moves this gelding to the dirt today. Look for an increased ability from the most recent turf race.

MASS CARA looks respectable to best this bunch. Not many knocks against this fine animal, let's give her a shot. Take a look at this contender's avg speed ranking of 82 and compare to today's class rating. Looks like a really good wager. Worth considering in this race if only for the very nice TrackMaster Speed Rating achieved in the most recent race. BUT WHY - Hands down the best hole at Saratoga Harness is the 1. The win percentage is fantastic. With a solid driver, who has won at a formidable 23 percent rate the last 30 days, this has to be one of the top choices. BLUE EYED BABE - This interesting entrant has shown us ability in its prior races, just look at the 78 avg class ranking. Should play well in this one.

With a 78 average class rating, this horse has one of the best class edges in the field. Recorded a 69 speed fig in last race. A duplicate effort here should get the victory in this event. ART SCENE - When the starter calls, entrants coming out of the 3 position have more wins than the expected average. Exemplary driver Hall should find the pace of today's race to this gelding's liking - could be a good wager. RANALDI - Can't forget based on TrackMaster speed figs which have been amazing (79 avg) within the recent past. The number crunching team gives this horse a competitive chance to take this race, class ratings are tops in the group of horses.

1st race – (3) Fighting the Wars didn’t fire in a sprint but stretches out and gets Irad. (9) Dazzle A. P. may sparkle in his debut. (11) Nyquistador is another firster who could be a promising runner. (10) Oasis Prince may respond to a switch back to turf. Betting strategy: 3 to win, place. Exacta box: 3-9-10-11.

4th race – (2) Light the Torch has speed and an inside post and may be in control throughout. (7) Popstyle was a good second last time and looks like the one to fear. (6) Blond Jak won his last and is from a barn off to a hot start at the meet. (4) Garuda will be well-suited by the distance. Betting strategy: 2 to win, place. Exacta box: 2-4-6-7.

7th race – (8) Forward Deployed has run into trouble in both career starts. Can take this with a clean trip. (5) Tam I Am was second the last two times. How about a hat trick? 9th race – (3) Break Out exits stakes company and looks best here. (5) Adventurous Spirit broke his maiden last time and should be a main contender against winners. (2) Catch a Tiger could steal this on the front end. (8) Highwayman won by a neck at Laurel and should get some consideration. Betting strategy: 3 to win, place. Exacta box: 2-3-5-8.

11th race - (3) Hedge My Bet showed speed and finished fourth in her debut. May not look back here. (12) El Megeeth was third last time and looms as the main rival. (1) Restless Dreamer will be helped by a rail trip. (7) Selfless had a useful debut and should make her presence felt here. Betting strategy: 3 to win, place. Exacta box: 1-3-7-12.

1^st race [Md Sp Wt, 1 mi] – (4) My Sherrona (A) raced greenly in her debut at 4-1, was game to get second, and had the look of a horse that needed to go longer. (2) More Than Grace (B) was second in her first start last month and finished clear of the rest of the field. (1) Hay Evabody showed early speed in all three of her starts finishing second or third each time. (6) Ramify is a well-bred first-time starter for Juddmonte and Chad Brown showing a steady worktab.

3^rd race [Md 30000, 7F] – (2) Vamonos Vamonos dropped into this level for the first time following a three-month layoff and ran second against a field of nine. (3) Stormin Sammy set the pace and was second in a maiden special weight at Finger Lakes. (6) Bernie Goes Boom ran his best speed figure when he moved from turf back to dirt. (5) Run of the House debuted in August in a Saratoga maiden special weight and now drops down for his second start as a new gelding.

4^th race [Clm 16000 N2L, 6F] – (1) Short Shift moves from turf back to the dirt while making a significant drop in class. (7) Enfuega was a debut winner a year ago and then tried a stakes and four NY-bred allowances and goes in a claimer for the first time. (5) Foolish Challenge drops back to a restricted claimer where he was successful in the past. (2) Dashing Della has early speed which he used to run third and second at this level.

8^th race [Garland of Roses, 6F] – (7) Mystic Pleasure ships up from Kentucky after running second in the Dream Supreme at Churchill. (8) Kant Hurry Love was last seen winning a NY-bred stakes race and missed a victory in the Correction by a nose. (3) St. Benedict’s Prep has early speed that served her well at the allowance level where he has three victories this year. (2) Ain’t Broke returns from a May layoff having run in graded stakes with a second in the Distaff (G3) at Aqueduct.

Best bets: My Sherrona (1^st); Vamonos Vamonos (3^rd). Best value: Short Shift (4^th); Mystic Pleasure (8^th).
