Analysis: We bet the Bengals as a 4% last week against the Broncos and it cashed. Granted, they needed OT to get it done, but if you watched that game, they completely dominated both sides of the ball. They marched up and down the field on the Broncos, got 0 points on a 1st and goal from the 4 and 3 points when they were 1st and goal from the 3. One can say well that was because the Bengals suck in the red zone - nope - it was just one of those things that rarely happen. My takeaway was their offense is unstoppable and can march up and down the field on anyone - and don’t forget they also missed 2 FGs. Nobody has come close to stopping this Bengals offense: They average over 28 points per game and just scored 38 on this very Pitt team on Dec 1st. They did lose that game to Pitt in Cincy (44-38), but I believe Cincy is a better team now and Pittsburgh is not. Cincy has now won 4 games in a row, while Pitt has lost 3 straight. Not only has Pitt lost 3 straight, but their offense is totally out of sync. They just scored 10 on KC, 17 on Bal and 13 on Phil - now I know those are 3 really good defenses, but come on, those are anemic numbers. This Pitt team has scored under 20 points in 5 of their last 7 games. If these teams were playing in the playoffs right now, with this lineup in Pitt and this was the line - I would take Cincy. This Cincy team is better than the Steelers period. Keep in mind how many games they lost by bad luck, 1 score, missed FGs, bad refs etc. Now with all that said - Cincy is playing for their playoff lives. I don’t think I make this bet if this game was on Sunday at the same time as the Denver game. Then I would look to take Cincy in the 1st half, but would be worried about their emotions later on in the game if Denver was crushing. But this is a stand alone game and Taylor will tell these guys, let’s take care of our business. Cincy cannot go to the playoffs if they do not win this game. AND: Pitt is playing for absolutely nothing. Yes they are playing for seeding and I know these teams woudl rather play Houston than Buff or Baltimore, but Tomlin always looks at the big picture. I do think Pitt tries to win this game, but it’s not that important - what is important is to get through this game with NO injuries - that is their priority. So bottom line - I LOVE this play and if the line moves to -145, take it on the line all the way to -3
