Thursday 1/16/25 Free Plays / Trends / Betting Info / Etc
I expect the Oklahoma City Thunder to get revenge for their 129-122 loss in Cleveland on January 8. They've since dominated with three blowout victories in New York, Washington, and Philadelphia.
The Thunder also dismantled Boston 105-92 in their most recent home game before embarking on their road trip.
OKC looks poised to continue their impressive form back on their home court.
This is a play on the NORTHERN ARIZONA LUMBERJACKS-9 for our Thursday Free Play. These are the two lowest NET ranked teams in the Big Sky Conference but there is a significant gap which is why the line may seem big but it is not big enough. Northern Arizona is coming off a pair of road losses in Montanta but both were by five points and that has been its story this season. The Lumberjacks are 10-7 with five of those seven losses by seven points or less, four by five points or fewer. They are back home where they are 7-1 which is inflated by four non-Division I wins but the rest of the home slate has been decent enough. Sacramento St. was on a three-game winning streak but has dropped its last two games since then with all five of these games coming at home. The Hornets have not played a road game since December 17th and this will be just their second road game since December 4th. They are 1-5 on the road with that in coming at Air Force back in November and their 5-11 record includes just two Division I wins, that Falcons victory and a win over Portland St., both coming by a combined five points. Sacramento St. is No. 346 in the NET rankings and they are one of the worst teams in the country for a reason. Play (808) Northern Arizona Lumberjacks
At Professionalsportspicks we see a future where those handicapping sports without advanced analytics and data-driven strategies will be left behind. Our data-driven picks use data integration, search and discovery, and knowledge management along with collaboration with our in-house handicappers. By isolating relevant trends, removing human bias, and targeting only lines with a positive expected value above a certain threshold, our data-driven picks promise to outperform any and all human competitors.
Our models suggest that the value is on the underdog. Montreal are 4-1 SU in their last 5 games. Montreal are 6-1 SU in their last 7 games on the road.
We really like the underdog in this matchup. The line looks mispriced when you consider that Montreal has lost only two of its last nine games, including a shootout loss to Dallas on Jan 11. With four of their last five games going past regulation, the Habs have shown resilience, and we anticipate another tightly contested battle.
This is a 1% free play on the Canadiens on the puckline (+1.5 @ -123)
Thursday NBA Free play. My selection is on Sacramento minus the points (-3.5 -108) over Houston at 10 pm ET on Thursday.
We'll back the Kings in this matchup as they come in rested, while the Rockets are playing the second of back-to-back games following an impressive 128-108 win in Denver last night, extending their winning streak to five games. However, this represents a step up in competition and a challenging scheduling spot for Houston.
Sacramento, on the other hand, saw its own seven-game straight-up winning streak (6-0-1 ATS) snapped in a tough loss in Milwaukee two nights ago. A recent coaching change has rejuvenated the Kings, and I anticipate a strong bounce-back effort here as they kick off a three-game homestand. Sacramento has shown improved play on both ends of the court and should exploit a Rockets team likely to be running on tired legs.
Look for the Kings to take control and cover the number.
Take Sacramento. Projected score: Sacramento 120, Houston 112.
Key Angle: It's important to remember that Ricky never makes a bet on any game based on just one angle. In order to make the grade, all his premium picks must meet several important criteria. He doesn't share all his secrets within his analysis, instead he chooses to reveal only the angle that he feels is the most significant. Here in this game the recent history of these two teams is particularly significant.
- Sacramento are 7-1 SU in their last 8 games.
- Houston are 3-7 SU in their last 10 games against Sacramento.
- Sacramento are 4-1 SU in their last 5 games at home.
