Fair Grounds - Race #5

#1 Good Temper	There are a couple other forward players lined up, but I wonder if she'll be committed enough to have a run for it from the fence. Midrange price threat if she gets a quick breather?
#8 Merry and Bright	She might have a big claim on this while getting Lasix for the first time on the drop out of stakes company. Could be set for better things this season, but she can be tough today.
#3 Fine Finish	Would be no surprise to see her land this while moving back to the turf, and she might find a really nice spot tracking the top choice from a couple lengths back.
Race Summary	Good Temper tries turf with a little bit of pace from the inside, and I'm hoping she can control the tempo from there. #6 Fionn makes sense in a fun race.

Fair Grounds - Race #7

#10 American Know How	Think this barn has a couple potential players in here, and I think this guy is going to get a cozy kind of trip while just in behind the splits. Price might be OK.
#3 Felix	I liked his last when scoring at Gulfstream, and he's another logical player from this team. Wouldn't be too upset with going two deep and trying to rely on the Morley barn to land this one way or another.
#2 Think Big	He found some of that better form again when turning back, and he figures to show up late on the scene with these. Capable player, and maybe you get a touch better price than he has offered in the last two?
Race Summary	American Know How and Felix both come into this off solid efforts for the Morley barn, but the former should be a better number and might get a perfect trip spying the action.

Fair Grounds - Race #8

#6 Crimson Glory	The only good race on her page -- and one that would be competitive here -- came in a similar situation when she was making her second start off the layoff after turning in a comeback dud. Worth a thrill?
#2 Buckskin Suzie	She hasn't been able to stay late in her two starts so far, but she cuts the tag in half today and should be in a good spot while always in touch.
#3 Mika Ella Pika	Speed couldn't quite hang in the stretch call of the debut run, but that might set her up for something a bit better at second asking. Worried she'll take some heat.
Race Summary	Crimson Glory might fold up early as she is known to do, but I'll take a price swing in hopes that she can replicate the best race on her page when racing second off the break.

Race Summary	RIGHT ON TARGET passed tired rivals in a 7F race at this level dominated by closers. But he should benefit from his first start in seven months, wears blinkers for the first time and catches a weak field. Bet to win and place and play a $1 Pick 3 with numbers 7,8/1,4,5/2,3.

#5 WINGS OF GOD (5-2)	Steady work tab for debut, gets Gallardo, watch odds.
Race Summary	MISTER BABY showed little at three tracks out of town except for ascending speed figures on the class drop. But he starts fresh for the O’Connell barn in the midst of a 12-for-54 run in the last 30 days and adds Lasix and blinkers. Take a longshot stab with a win and place bet and 1-4-5 exacta box.

#2 COUNTRY ECONOMICS (5-2)	Has had problems during runner-up finishes, could be long gone today.
#3 KOZAK SPIRIT (4-1)	Ambitiously placed after useful debut at this distance, co-light weight.
#1 FORTUNE DREAMS (12-1)	Second in sprint and route as a 3yo, but inconsistent otherwise.
Race Summary	COUNTRY ECONOMICS finished second in four of her last six starts and is a high-risk favorite stretching out to a long sprint. But she will have every chance to go non-stop on the lead after she drifted twice on stretch leads, broke inward at 6-1/2F two starts back and got caught by the 1-to-2 favorite last out. Bet to win and place and play 2-1 and 2-3 exactas.

3rd race – (3) Right Karma rallied for second last time after a layoff and should get the job done here. (2) High Prince may perk up on dirt. (4) One Last Kiss belongs in the exotics. (7) De la Calles can sneak into the picture. Betting strategy: 3 to win, place. Exacta box: 2-3-4-7.

5th race – (1) The Beach Goes On was second on Tapeta and can make a smooth switch to turf. (10) Zo Zucchera will benefit from a fast pace. (11) Bellavinino has enough late speed to be dangerous. 2^nd race [OC62k/N2X, 1 1/8 mi] – (5) Magical Ways (D) was bet down from 7-1 to 5-1 and finished fourth in a large field that was quite strong. (1) Masmak was second in a top-level allowance last month and drops back to the N2X allowance. That was after two wins in a row going from a maiden to the first allowance. (4) Peek was an allowance winner in his second start after Linda Rice claimed him at Keeneland in October. (3) Summer Cause raced the nine-furlongs in his two most recent starts.

4^th race [Clm 16000 N2L, 6F] – (6) Mackville comes back from a June layoff, changes to the Linda Rice barn, makes a big drop in class. (1) Big Rich was third at today’s level in December and he then tried for a $25,000 claiming tag. (4) Ride Up came back from a 13 month layoff and ran third after pressing the pace. He hit the board in 8 of his 11 career starts. (3) Majestic Arc set the pace last time and ended up second.

6^th race [Clm 25000 N2L, 6F] – (2) My Vanilla (D) was bet down from 5-1 to be the 3-1 favorite and she pressed the pace to finish fourth. (5) Gaga’s Hamsome broke her maiden for a $50,000 tag, then tried a starter allowance, and now drops into a winning spot. (4) Carol Said No was third at this level after winning a $30,000 maiden claimer. (3) Perfect Finish was a debut winner three weeks ago for a $20,000 tag at 9-2.

7^th race [Md Sp Wt, 6 ? F] – (1) One Nine Hundred (A) broke a step slow, was taken up, got to the lead, and finished third in a blanket finish. (5) Colloquial (A/C) was 4-1 in his debut which was back in June and closed fast to lose a head bob to a full brother of Fierceness. He will get first-time Lasix. (6) Grand Commander pressed the pace and battled gamely throughout the race to just miss the win by a nose in his debut at 4-1 for a low-profile trainer who does not usually win with first-time starters. (2) Fanatical ran third throughout his debut race at Fair Grounds at 7-2 behind a horse that has been mentioned on Ky. Derby contender lists.

Rider jumped on this gelding's back for the first time on January 18th. Should know the horse even better this time around. This gelding is in good form. Ran second on Jan 18th.
