Fair Grounds - Race #6

#2 Sinatra	He wasn't particularly live in the Churchill debut when he showed little at 15/1, but he caught a good one that day who would eventually win last month's Lecomte here. Could see there being some upside today with some maturity and the move to the turf.
#6 Regained Power	Always have to take anything this barn sends out seriously at this kind of trip, and he's got a versatile kind of pedigree that may suit the distance well.
#8 Motel Patel	Not totally sure about the move to the turf, but at least he's bringing some decent form with him to this one after catching a well-meant winner last out.
Race Summary	Sinatra has some upside while moving to the turf today, and it might be worth forgiving him for the debut when he didn't take a ton of action and caught a nice winner.

Fair Grounds - Race #7

#1 Uncashed	He has been struggling a bit when in stakes company since those races from the middle of his 3-year-old season, but he might be controlling pace from the inside in a sprint spot where the other serious pace cuts back.
#4 Hoist the Gold	He's a Grade II winner at this trip, so it's not necessarily too sharp for him, but I do tend to think he's a touch better going another furlong or two beyond this trip. Needs to keep the top choice within reach.
#7 Mr Fillip	He has a bit of pace from the outside and can probably spy the top choice early on -- might be a bit light to land this, though.
Race Summary	Uncashed and Hoist the Gold look tough to get past in here, but the former has a pace edge and might prove best here while not meeting a ton of serious one-turn pace.

Fair Grounds - Race #8

#5 Todo Men	Expected a bit better from him last time around, but I think this route trip on the turf might be just what he needs. I like the race he exits.
#8 Scorpius	Tough call for a top team, as he hasn't shown much yet through two starts, but he has some room to come forward while getting Lasix and returning to the turf.
#10 Ambitiously	Debuter looks ready enough to go on paper for a team that can get them ready to roll at first asking. Take a look.
Race Summary	Todo Men might handle this two-turn trip, and he ran well enough in that debut on the turf to think he'll turn in a good effort today from close range while stretching out.

Race Summary	The two favorites, both runaway 5F winners at Delta Downs in January, could get in each other’s way on the front end. DEBBIE’S PASSAGE draws a better post and has won from just off the pace; however, TIZ SWEET CANDY has hit her best stride and should offer more betting value, so bet on her to win and place and play 4-1 and 4-7 exactas.

Race Summary	AUTUMNS STRONG MAN rallied into the dueling leaders but failed to sustain his bid in a well-bet try in the same spot. He enters a high-percentage claim barn and gets plenty of pace flow to strike at an inflated price. Bet to win and place and play a 1-5-9 exacta box.

Delta Downs - Race #4

#1 RED IDOL (9-2)	Good fit on best in dreadful field, but last race wasn’t among his best.
#2 HEZA SEXY ZONG (5-1)	Improved recent form, poor overall record, first start at this distance.
#3 CANAL ST. CUPID (5-2)	Controlled easy pace in back-to-back wins for $5,000 recently.
Race Summary	RED IDOL showed speed but was ‘finished early’ in a reunion against state-bred rivals on a muddy track last out. But with two wins, a near miss and solid speed figures in his previous three one-mile runs, he deserves a chance to bounce back in a field that is a combined 20-for-236. Bet to win and place and play a 1, 2/1, 2, 3/ALL trifecta.

1st race – (4) Sainte Chapelle (A) had a rough trip when bumped and pinched back at the start and still finished second. Gets the win here. (2) Buddhist Prodigy takes a big class drop and should be a key rival. (3) Pharoah’s Favorite may appreciate the added distance. (7) Lauriston could contend at this level. Betting strategy: 4 to win, place. Exacta box: 2-3-4-7.

3rd race – (7) Zozan was second last time and gets the nod here. (6) Flatter Me could pose a serious threat. (5) Ekati King should work out a nice trip here. (3) Magicshadow may be closing late. Betting strategy: 7 to win, place. Exacta box: 3-5-6-7. Doubles: 3-5-6-7 with 3-4-5.

3^rd race [Clm 25000 N2L, 7F] – (4) Aint No Joke made his first start for Linda Rice after she claimed him in Kentucky in October and he broke his maiden for $20,000 by more than nine lengths. (1) Camm’ Duke got out to a big lead last month and finished second at this level as the favorite. (6) Alpha Sonny has a third and a second in his last two starts at this level. (3) Eric From Miami will cut back in distance for Rick Dutrow.

4^th race [Clm 25000 N3L, 6F] – (3) J D Factor gets blinkers on and drops back down to the $25,000 level where he was an impressive winner of the N2L condition. (6) Muazarah won the N2L race two races back by nine lengths. (2) Neuschwanstein was claimed for $16,000 last month after having the lead as the favorite. (1) Java Buzz makes a significant drop in class after showing speed in his last two races.

5^th race [Md 20000, 1 mi] – (2) Barstool Babe has been off since July and makes a big drop in maiden claiming price for Linda Rice. (1) Lucky and Gorgeous was second in her last two starts against NY-breds for a $30,000 tag. (3) Looking for Ginny has five top three finishes from her last seven starts in maiden claimers. (4) Exotic Cat has two much improved performances in his two most recent races.

6^th race [Clm 35000B, 1 mi] – (3) Alternate Reality (B) got jostled at the top of the stretch and gamely battled to get second going a mile. (6) Bold Victory (B) battled twice down the stretch, had the lead, finished second well clear of the rest of the field, and got claimed. (1A) Certified Loverboy was claimed twice for $35,000 in his last three races and finished third and second. (5) Suerte was claimed from three out of five starts and has races in that stretch that make him a contender.

I've got to go with MOONLIT NOTION. Has very good front speed and ought to fare admirably against this group of horses in this race. Had one of the most respectable speed figures of this field in his last race. Should be given a chance here on the basis of the figures in the speed realm alone. FLYIN MAYAN - This horse has some longshot handicapping angles going for him. The average class rating alone makes this one a key contender. JOHN'S NOTION - Petty has a strong winning percentage with horses running in dirt sprint races. The speed fig of 75 from his most recent affair looks respectable in here.

Has been travelling in the most competitive company of the group of horses in this race recently. Overall the speed figures of this pony look very good in this affair. LOUISIANA BOSS MAN - Has to be considered based on the formidable Equibase Speed Fig garnered in the last affair. EYE B RONNIN - Has been moving well and has among the strongest speed in the race for today's distance. Castillo has him trained admirably to break speedily out of the gate.

ONASA - This gelding should get a gorgeous trip in this spot. He looks like the only 'stalker' in this race. Last time around the track was at Fair Grounds in a race with an Equibase class figure of 96. Dropping significantly in class rating this time around puts him in a solid position in today's race. Trainer, Ladner, has been deliberate with this gelding off the layoff. Look for a solid effort today. Last time out, finished fifth on a track listed as good at Fair Grounds. Have to give a better effort in this event. CLASSIC MOMENT - After the event aboard this horse on January 26th, the jock is going to be acquainted with the gelding much better. Diodoro must have known this gelding would run well at this track. Won his last race here on January 26th and now goes for back-to-back wins. He has the highest (EPS) earnings per start. Take a good look at this horse. JULIA'S WARRIOR - Really think this beautiful animal is going to be close at the wire.

Vulnerable Contenders: #4 CRIME SPREE (ML=9/2), #8 HEZA PRIORITY (ML=5/1), #3 DIXIE STREET (ML=8/1),

CRIME SPREE - This gelding didn't do much last time out. Finished sixth in his most recent race with a quite unimpressive speed figure. When I look at today's Equibase class figure, it would take an improved performance to triumph after that in this field. HEZA PRIORITY - No triumphs for this horse at Fair Grounds. Earned a run-of-the-mill speed figure in the last race in a non-classified race race on January 11th. Unlikely to see an improved performance off of that number.

GUEST COMMENTARY: Hal - CLASSIC MOMENT - Comparing last speed ratings in this field, nobody beats this gelding. Tops in the field with a last speed rating of 91 on Jan 26th.

NOT ONE LESS - Have to give this filly a chance. Ran a good effort last time around the track within the last 30 days. Sano adds Lasix for the 2nd time today. Could be helpful right here. TIMBER - The addition of Lasix might make this horse run well in this event. Crichton moves this filly to the main track today. Look for a chance at a big improvement from the most recent race on the turf.

CUE THE MUSIC - Difficult to bet on any thoroughbred to turn things around if there is no wager value to taking the shot. Finished eighth in her most recent effort with a quite unimpressive speed figure. When I look at today's Equibase class figure, it would take an improved performance to score after that in this field.

Feel pretty confident putting mucho dinero down on BANGIN. Has formidable speed figures and very likely has to be thought of for a play in this race. Seems to have a good class edge based on the horses he has faced. LITTLE FIGHTER - Some trainers just fit better with certain race horses. That seems to be the case today with Merton. A formidable bet. Can't forget based on TrackMaster Speed Ratings which have been fantastic (71 avg) within the recent past. YVONNES LUCKY ROSE - Bets on Yanoti's starters who move down in class from their last contest show a positive return on investment. Comp pace figs say this outing should shape up nicely for this mare. Looking for a big effort.

PSYCHO PATH has a nice shot to take this contest. Can't miss this horse, especially in exotics. Pace figures put him in the mix in this event. Racing sharply, achieved a very strong TrackMaster SR in his most recent competition (60). Driver/handler are no strangers to the winners circle and should have this gelding breaking away from the group of horses. B JS CHOICE - When the starter calls, nice horses coming out of the 5 post have more wins than is normal. Good for a win wager just off the amazing prior class stats. Have to like this solid standardbred. ACEFORTYFOUR DUKE - This solid standardbred recorded a good TrackMaster Speed Rating in last race. Looks sharp to come right back.
