Fair Grounds - Race #3

#1 Cheval B	Not sure she's the most likely winner in here, but her form woke up a little bit last time out, and this easier spot might be enough to help her move forward again here.
#4 Romany Road	She finished just behind the top choice when they met, and she was a good fit at this level a couple starts back when missing by just a length.
#10 Acousticat	She's got some positional pace that should leave her in a good spot from out here, but I think this is a fairly competitive spot, and I could see her taking a bit too much cash.
Race Summary	Cheval B has run a couple decent ones over this turf course, and she might get a really cozy run of things from the inside while meeting a softer crew.

Fair Grounds - Race #7

#1 Cairo Dream	Her form has perked up a bit since moving around two turns, so I'm hoping this turf route will be a better fit for her than those two turf sprints. Tactical pace might work out a trip from here.
#3 Classic Performer	Forward player has some decent turf form that might translate well going long, but I have a mild concern about a bit of pace from the outside that could make her day tough.
#6 Just Better	She can be a handful here while returning off the bench and dropping out of stakes company, and she might be in line for a perfect first-over trip.
Race Summary	Cairo Dream has some appeal while trying two turns on turf, and she might get overlooked while meeting a couple classier types coming out of stakes spots.

Fair Grounds - Race #8

#4 Aries Honor	Dropper ran well in his only previous claiming try, and he might be able to stick around better today with this softer crew. Might be an OK price.
#6 Navarrian	He would drill these with anything even close to his better form, but I don't know how excited you're supposed to be to see him dropping all the way to the basement after that dud of an effort last time out. Might roll, but you can have him.
#7 Contraband Early	He has been landing some shares with similar, and he should be in a good spying spot throughout on this one, and the presence of Navarrian should ensure a better number on the board than that 1/5 offering last out.
Race Summary	Aries Honor could wake up here while getting back in with a cheaper bunch, and the price should be decent enough off some flat efforts recently.

I have to support HWY TWENTY RIDE here and is a very good value bet given the line at 20/1. He has recorded very strong figs under today's conditions and should fare well versus this group. Always difficult to beat Asmussen and Asmussen working together, winning 16 percent of their races. His chances to prove victorious are much better this time out facing this softer field of horses. PRIMO CANARY - With a solid jock who has won at a respectable 15 percent clip over the last month. This has to be one of the top choices. Has recorded sound speed figures in dirt route races in the past. SURFIN' M - Overall the Equibase Speed Figures of this racer look respectable in this affair. Appears to be the type to be helped with second time Lasix here.

My choice for this event is LONG MAYSHE REIGN. Looks very good to be on the lead at the first call. Could best this group based on the Equibase Speed Figure - 95 - of her last race. She has been running quite well and the speed figs are among the strongest in this group. GEM MINE - Has respectable Equibase Speed Figures and has to be considered for a wager here. Baltas has a solid winning percentage with horses racing in turf sprint races. ACTIVATED (IRE) - Win percentage under similar conditions may be the key for this filly. Solid jock with trainer figures make this horse a very strong wagering choice.

HYPER VENOM - If this colt gets out of the gate cleanly, he'll be tough to catch. Has a good chance to break maiden switching to the dirt right here in this race. MYWIFEHASAGUN - This gelding notched a strong figure of 62 in his last clash. That speed figure should be high enough to win this time. This gelding is in fine form. Finished third on Jan 29th. This one has increased his Equibase speed figures in each of the last two races. That kind of progress is worth taking a look at. VINO COURAGIO - Last raced at Tampa Bay Downs with a poor post position. I swiped some data from The Brain, and his computer says the inside should be a big help to this one today. Ranked number one in earnings per start. Another sign that this horse has the class to win. Have to forget about that last grass race. This gelding should do better hitting the dirt right here.

LOVELY SASSICAIA - I think this gelding is coming into top form. I like to wager on this angle, a thoroughbred coming back off a good effort within the last month. That was a solid win last time out. In my opinion has a good chance to repeat today. Horse has improved at least 2 Equibase speed figure points in last two races. I look for that trend to continue in this race. DIXIE STREET - This gelding is utmost in earnings per start (EPS). Check out this one in the saddling ring.

Vulnerable Contenders: #3 TOTALLY ADDICTED (ML=4/1), #8 DREWMAZING (ML=9/2), #1 EL DEAL ME ACES (ML=5/1),

TOTALLY ADDICTED - No picnic to bet on any less than sharp equine in a sprint clash if he hasn't finished in the money in a sprint in the last couple of months. Finished eighth in his most recent race with a substandard speed rating. When I look at today's Equibase class figure, it would take an improved performance to triumph after that in this field. DREWMAZING - Difficult to put any money on this gelding on the front end. Likes to finish in the money though. EL DEAL ME ACES - The effort last time out on Dec 20th probably won't hold up against stronger competition when they turn for home. The speed figure in the last race doesn't fit very well in this contest when I look at the Equibase class figure of today's contest. Mark this horse as a vulnerable contender.

When the starter calls, entrants coming out of the 4 hole have more wins than the expected average. DANCELIKE EHSKIPPR - Has formidable speed ratings and more than likely has to be thought of for a wager here. Heads into this gathering with great TrackMaster class ratings relative to the group - could be worth a shot.
