I have to support EVASIVE MOVES here. Is tough not to look at based on Equibase Speed Figures which have been very strong - 60 avg - of late. Is a key contender - given the 65 speed rating from his most recent race. Has longshot possibilities and could win at big odds. CARRY GRANT - Recently Castillo has been hot which may give the edge to this colt. Ought to be carefully examined - I like the numbers from the last contest. MUCHO MAGNIFICO - Has to be given consideration here on the basis of the figures in the speed section alone. Has garnered solid Speed Figures in dirt route races in the past.

FLINT STROLL - Winless in his last three starts, this gelding did win on February 4th at Turf Paradise versus tougher competition. I like the way this gelding's finish positions have gotten better with each start recently. A sign of a pony coming into top form. I like to play this handicapping angle, a thoroughbred coming back off a solid effort within the last month or so. DOS VICIOS - Personally, I wouldn't worry about where he finished in his last race (fifth). Should rebound in this race, with some decent odds. CLUB MESQUITE - Have to give this gelding a chance. Ran a sharp outing last out within the last month or so. PP lines show this thoroughbred with three improving speed figures. McGregor should be on a horse ready to go in today's race. AQUACAT - Numerous positive 'vibes' connected with this pony and his brain trust.

Vulnerable Contenders: #6 BIRTH OF COOL (ML=3/1), #1 WAR CHEST (ML=7/2), #10 THIRTY SECONDS OUT (ML=6/1),

BIRTH OF COOL - Speed kills. Plenty of early speed in this affair compromises this animal's hopes. When scrutinizing today's Equibase class figure, he will have to earn a better fig than last time out to be competitive in this turf route. WAR CHEST - Have to be uncertain about the recent trend and awesome speed fig in the Dec 28th race. It was this gelding's greatest at that distance and this one should bounce today. THIRTY SECONDS OUT - Registered a somewhat easily forgotten rating last out in an $8,000 Claiming race on February 6th. Not probable to see an improved performance off of that rating.
