Analysis: Ole Miss meets Michigan State in the Sweet 16. The Rebels have looked great so far in this tournament, particularly on offense and even more in the first half. They shot 51.8% from the field and 53.8% from 3-point range against North Carolina and then fired 481% from the from the field and 45.4% from 3-point range against Iowa State. But North Carolina is a below average defense overall and Iowa State is average defending the 3-point line. The Spartans are the #1 three-point shooting defense in the country and 11th in the nation in effective FG% defense. Michigan State will be a much tougher test on the defensive end for the Rebels. On the flip side, the Rebels defense has been stellar against two very good offenses. They held UNC to 26 points in the first half and the Cyclones to 29. This is a Spartans offense that is bad at 3-point shooting. In fact, they are 323rd in the country. Ole Miss is one of the best teams in the country at forcing turnovers, so scoring for the Spartans won't be easy. Michigan State will have the advantage boards, so second chance opportunities may be limited for the Rebels. Both these teams play an average pace. Unders have been the flavor of the tournament. I think there's a good chance one of these teams don't get to 30 in the first half. This number may move, but I think this is playable to 67.5 or 67.
