    Brian W. Spencer's Daily Picks

    Mahoning Valley - Race #3
#8 Miss Athletic She has had her share of chances, including against the cheaper Florida claiming crew, but her baseline is actually pretty honest and should make her a handful with these. Think she's supposed to handle these -- probably easily.
#1 Came Up Roses She's got a touch of positional pace in a race without a ton of speed, so she might be able to work out a trip from the fence that keeps her in the frame. Think she's one of the ones, and the presence of the top choice should give believers a better price this time around.
#10 Uaintright Wanted to see her hold that better form just a bit last time out, but they cut the claiming tag in half for this one and get a good draw to watch things unfold with some proven ability to get past horses on the page.
Race Summary Miss Athletic should be in a great spot throughout, and I think her A-game should be enough to handle this crew in her local debut.
    Mahoning Valley - Race #6
#1 Jokemeister There are a couple others in here who want to be in the mix early, but I think he'll prove to be the most committed pace early, and he could stick around to land this if he can shake free just a bit early on.
#6 Free Sailin Cutback pace has enough speed to keep the top choice in his sights, but I fear he could get a chasing kind of trip that might leave him flat in the lane -- it has been some time since he got past horses late.
#2 Cybertime Love the current form and the way he brought a better local effort last time out, and he looks like the main late danger if the top choice starts needing the wire.
Race Summary Jokemeister has a lot of appeal for me from the fence, and I think he can stretch the other forward players just enough to control things throughout.
    Mahoning Valley - Race #8
#2 Princess Em You've got to dig back a bit on the page, but something in the key of that Dec. 5 try might play really well in this spot. There are a few forward stretchout types who should ensure a fair set of splits, and you know this one can at least get past horses. Wouldn't be against taking an aggressive stand with her, but I do think the next choice belongs on the plays, too.
#7 Be Kozy Lots to like here on potential style while stretching out in a spot where a couple quicker players should set the terms early on. Might get a dreamy tracking trip to get the jump on deeper threats.
#10 Angel I'm Not Think there's a chance she rates nicely on the stretch around two turns and lands this, but she's probably going to be fairly close to a fair pace, and I don't think she's going to offer a nice enough price for me to see if she can track that speed and stay.
Race Summary Princess Em and Be Kozy seem in line to get a good setup here with a handful of forward players moving around two turns, but the price should be better on the former.

      Frank Carulli's Daily Picks

      Parx - Race #1
#7 ONTHISHARVESTMOON (6-1) Rallied past the favorites at 6F, can use her speed well in this spot.
#1 LADY ANNABELLE (5-1) 'Closed well’ at 5-1/2F and held off the onrushing favorite to finish second.
#8 K D KAKES (2-1) Idle 10 months since voided vet claim, most recent workout is encouraging.
Race Summary ONTHISHARVESTMOON passed and drew away from the two favorites in the final sixteenth to end a long winless drought at the nw/2 level. But she figures on or near the lead in this longer sprint and can repeat at a decent price. Bet to win and place and play a 1-7-8 exacta box.
      Parx - Race #2
#5 TAKE TIME TO DREAM (2-1) Second in both starts at this level, gets in light, can join $100k Club.
#6 BRIGHT KOHANA (3-1) Steady check-getter couldn’t reach the pace-controlling fave in latest.
#4 NO FAKE (5-2) Won long sprints on fast and ‘good’ tracks this year after winless 2024 season.
Race Summary TAKE TIME TO DREAM’S 3-wide stretch rally to ‘command’ was disrupted by a fast-charging deep closer as the 4-to-5 favorite. Give her a chance to make amends with a 7-pound weight break in the same spot. Bet to win and place and play 5-4 and 5-6 exactas.
      Parx - Race #5
#3 TYCOON (6-1) Solid numbers, proven long-distance record, tempting price.
#7 PIT BOSS (6-1) Could return quick claim dividend with duplicate of near miss in 12-horse field.
#6 WINGED FOOT (7-2) Finished 1-2 in last four routes on fast track, three ending in ‘photos.’
Race Summary TYCOON is 20/5-3-4 with a six-figure bankroll at this distance. He rallied mildly last out to finish behind the co-favorites on the class drop to this level. Give him the nod for a win and place bet in his third start of a cycle. Also play a 3, 7/3, 6, 7/ALL trifecta.
      - Race #0
#3 MAMA DRAMA (3-1) Strong recovery from poor start but raced erratically in final sixteenth.
#1 SOUNDTRACK (9-5) Has speed and the rail and plenty of checks on drop from MSW ranks.
#9 BONITA DIAMOND (2-1) Carried speed into photo finish with Lasix, draws favorable post.
Race Summary MAMA DRAMA left too much work to do after spotting the field several lengths at the start in her 6F debut. She was far back into the turn but mounted a strong inside rally and was gaining on the leaders until she threw her head and lost momentum in deep stretch. She could benefit from a front-end battle involving the morning-line favorites. Bet to win and place and play 3-1 and 3-9 exactas.
