Revenge on Blue Devils minds after getting embarrassed at home vs. the Canes in 2015 on that controversial, 8 lateral kickoff return touchdown.
The Devils have gotten off to a strong 4-0 start led by their 5th ranked defense in the country, allowing only 75 yards per game against the run while only giving up 15 points per contest.
It’s a small sample size, but after two games, Miami has had a hell of a time getting its defense off the field. Bethune-Cookman is hardly an offensive powerhouse, but it was able to connect on 8-of-17 third downs ...Toledo converted 13 of 23 tries. So far this season, Duke’s offense has been very good at keeping the chains moving.
Miami gave up 342 passing yards and 3 touchdowns to Toledo QB Logan Woodside last week. The Canes will face another solid signal-caller Friday night, dual-threat QB Daniel Jones. it may be hard for the Devils to get the ground game going against a strong Hurricane defensive front but Jones has a good chance of making plays through the air going against a rebuilt Miami secondary that has struggled so far giving up 286.5 passing yards per game.
I expect Miami to win, more than likely on the shoulders of Mark Walton but I expect it to be close. Also with FSU on deck next weekend, Miami might not be as focused as they should be with the task at hand.
