    Missippi vs. South Carolina

Any initial thoughts on this Thursday night game.

Not sure what to think of Mississippi at #4 in poll.

    Mississippi -4 over South Carolina

Leaning toward playing 7 pt teaser, +11 for South Carolina at home.

    Thoughts?

      Re: Missippi vs. South Carolina

I have reading about the swine flu affecting Mississippi players a few weeks back. What it the impact on the game, should this be a factor to lean towards So. Carolina with the points?

So. Carolina won that sloppy game against FSU a couple of weeks back. We saw what FSU did to BYU this past weekend.

      Should be a close game...

Oops...meant to say that So. Carolina beat North Carolina in the sloppy game a couple of weeks back...

I was thinking of Miami who beat FSU the week before...

I think Miami could be a sleeper this year. The QB is AWESOME!!!

Mississippi turned the ball over three times in last years game, one of the fumbles resulted in a South Carolina TD. South Carolina had a lot of passing yards against Ole Miss, but I think the Rebel D will look to improve on that performance. Also, if Ole Miss' D-Line can get pressure on Garcia, you can consider -3 a decent play. The only way Garcia can throw down the field is with the time to do so, and if he doesn't have that time you can look for INT's. I look for Mississippi to avenge last years loss at home to South Carolina, as they are 8-1 ATS on the road in their last nine games. I would not tease South Carolina nor would I touch the O/U in this game. I believe Mississippi would be favored by a touchdown at the least in this game(the line started at -4.5), and it is my thinking the books are giving Carolina 3 points for home field advantage as well as another 3 for having Spurrier as a head coach. I'll wait to see the moneyline before I make a bet on the spread of course, because many bettors will be taking Carolina in an upset, which could give me a SU bet on Ole Miss for a decent size bet just in case the game comes down to Ole Miss having to win it with a field goal in the end. You just never know in football......but I am siding with Mississippi here.

                Thanks ABT!

Moneyline is currently -165 for Mississippi and +145 for So. Carolina.

                  Re: Missippi vs. South Carolina

I just don't understand why so many people are taking South Carolina in the upset (which is what I predicted would be the case here). I was just too impressed with the Rebels road performances in the later half of last season to not put a bet on them SU here.

                  @ Florida 31-30 W
                  @ Alabama 24-20 L
                  @ Arkansas 23 - 21 W
                  @ LSU 31 - 13 W
                  Texas Tech @ Cotton Bowl 47 - 34 W

If South Carolina knocks off Mississippi and becomes a ranked team after the Rebel's nice two week warm up before there first breeze of a road opener I will be damned. Spurrier is a great coach which I give him credit for his progress with the program, he already said in his press conference that his team has a lot to improve on, and in doing so didn't seem very optimistic, although that is just the way Spurrier acts. But who F-ing knows anyways. I mean, the last time I checked, Washington U couldn't beat a girls volleyball team last year, and the next year they beat USC hahaha.

I think Ole Miss wins by 17 ,SC's defense is no where near what Ole Miss's is .

Tough call. It is hard to see Ole Miss losing, but hard to bet against the home team in this one. I can see a 27-24 score.

Lou Holtz just picked South Carolina, and I ALWAYS TAKE THE OPPOSITE OF LOU HOLTZ. My theory: Lou Holtz might have one winning pick in his time with ESPN, therefore take the opposite. I feel so much better now. "Nutt beats cocks" LOL, you just never know.
