Great situation for John Beck to be making his first start for the Washington Redskins. Carolina's defense has been poor this year, allowing 27.2 points per game, and ranking near the bottom of the league in stopping the run (4.84 yards allowed per rush, 26th in NFL), and allow opponents to convert on just over 46% of 3rd down conversions. Washington should be able to run and set up 3rd and shorts, and Beck should have success throwing the ball against the Panthers, who have allowed opposing quarterbacks to average a 99.82 rating, good for 29th in the league. The Redskins are tough to pass against, ranking 3rd in the league in defensive passer rating71.81, (Newton ranks 25 in NFL with a 78.27 rating) and have been excellent on getting off the field on 3rd down, 2nd in NFL, allow conversions only 28.79% of the time so far this year. Look for the Redskins to come out swinging in this one and try to take the Carolina running game out, and force Cam to have to try to sling it to keep em in it.
