The problem here is that this wasn't as simple as guns not needing to reload. This is how they arrived at the ending. In a film where they at least took the most logical approach to a fantasy concept this kind of ending, while dramatic and nifty due to the time, comes off as highly contrary and cheap in the grand scheme of it all. The disservice here is taking something laughably devoid of any of the would-be integrity shown in the rest of the film at face value, at least that's the way I look at it. That's not to say it still can't be enjoyed, but the distinction between being enjoyed because of a gaping plot hole rather than despite one has to be made some time.

I hear what you're saying but I guess, in this particular film, it just didn't bother me. Uploading a virus to the alien's shit seemed/seems a lot more clever of a plot point than many of the alternatives, such as successfully using nukes or some other military shit.

So when Jeff Goldblum says, "I gave it a cold," I was like, "Oh, interesting and kind of original."

You can't just say 'LOL movie' as some excuse to get away with whatever lazy, inept bullshit you want.

No, not everything, but it is a good excuse to get away with SOME things, like Tommy getting his shoulder dislocated and still being allowed to fight in Warrior or a man dodging like a thousand bullets in pretty much every action movie ever made.

There's also romantic comedies, which pretty much never resemble the way shit really goes down between men and women.

So yeah, "LOL movie." But that's why we like them, because they allow us to escape from everyday reality.

And by the way, not reloading guns? That's all that is. Pure laziness. There are technical advisors for a reason.

Well you can deal with this two ways:

1. Just pretend like everyone is reloading their shit when the movie cuts to a different character.

or

2. Recognize that characters often pop off 100+ rounds in a standard shoot out and most guns only hold around 10 rounds per magazine. If you spend a lot of time emphasizing the reloading process the action grinds to a halt. If a director wants to incorporate that into his film in a creative way, then I certainly have no objections. But I don't think it's necessary.
