I'm taking my white with me, but the real question is whether I should even bring it up or just say fuck it.



When I was involved in the ATA TKD organization as a kid, it was 2 months between belts, with 10 belts, so only 2 years to black. I have since learned that almost no one else promotes that fast (even other TKD orgs), but that inexperience has forever been the standard etched into my mind, so training for 6 months just to get from white to yellow seemed like a significant accomplishment.

If you are concerned about it (the work), I would just say when you get there "I am a yellow belt in judo, but I haven't trained in a long time, so I didn't know if I should wear my yellow belt or not." No one is going to care about that.

In BJJ, your rank is a lot easier to verify. Even a purple belt can be easily tracked down to see if it is legitimate. It is seen as an insult to your previous instructor if the rank is not respected. Pretty sure it is the same way in judo, but rank has a different meaning in jdo vs. bjj.

I think with judo you can register your rank with the USJF if you're a member, or something along those lines, but I believe you have to pay for it.

It wasn't risky until that bitch came out of right field with the soccer kick. Obviously ground work is risky in a self defense situation in which it's not truly 1 on 1, the same way putting someone in a headlock while his buddy is punching you in the face is a bad idea. But he was kicking ass until that bitch came out of nowhere and pele'd his ass.
