I think you'll find that a lot of public personalities have a lot more depth to them, and are a lot more interesting, if you can find a way past their public image and get a glimpse at who they really are.

Plus, Katy Perry is hot.

I think the more pressing question though, is: who gives a fuck?

Like, who cares if Justin Bieber has depth and maturity? As a normal human being over the age of 14, I really have no interest. I don't think Katy Perry is especially attractive, but even if I did... is ot worth having to sit through a movie about her actual personality? No.

I ask that question all the time about random people with no real special talent that become famous... but I really don't need to sit through Bieber-mania to ask the question. I am quite certain it has almost nothing to do with the kid (man? I really don't know how old he is) himself. Marketing. Luck. To me, he is just another guy in a long line of random tween pop stars.

As for Katy Perry's music... ah, ok. Not my thing, but I suppose some of these pop starlets make much worse music. I actually don't think I would recognize any of her songs, other than "I Kissed a Girl"

I'm not overly familiar with her stuff, but I have heard some songs and remember thinking on a couple of occasions that I kind of liked it.

Well, I actually can't stand true pop music. Some stuff that is classified as pop, but really is sort of a mix of genres, I can deal with. But the stuff like Bieber or Katy Perry, where it is really just karaoke... I really can't bear to listen to it. It makes me hurt for the universe. It is not because I am old either, I never liked it... even when I was in Jr. High myself, I knew it was crap. But it has gotten a lot worse since then, the music has gotten more and more synthesized and over produced and homogenous and somehow people like it.
