I think only once in my life have I ever paid money for a pop album, and it was a mistake.

But I am not ashamed to admit that I've downloaded some of Britney Spears' more recent albums and actually get into some of it.

Shame is not necessarily a bad thing in some cases. There is no accounting for taste... but at some point, I think a little shame is kind of good.

I never really have understood that phrase, "There no accounting for taste." I get what people are saying, but what does it mean by no ACCOUNTING for taste?

When I was 14 I owned C&C Music Factory cassette tape. I am not ashamed, because I was a kid... but I would definitely be ashamed to have enjoyed the modern day equivalent. But my first actual requested music purchase was U2's "Achtung Baby"- which I still enjoy and think is a great album (probably the last of their great music).

I don't know. It is definitely different than the way we normally use the word "account." Ie, "We must account for the loss of water due to evaporation." I guess I thought it meant that there is no way to quantify the inherent goodness or badness of what someone else finds appealing. You can't account for it in your calculations. Dunno.

My girlfriend likes Katy Perry's music...we felt like seeing a movie..we saw it. Thought it was interesting enough to sit through.

I saw spiderman today in I MAX....too many pre teens in that theater though for me to enjoy it.

Also...we saved the 3D glasses from last night and the IMAX glasses today...so now we can just pay for a regular movie and walk into one of those instead of paying crazy $ to see a movie in imax/3d...ya I am cheap

I remember when I was like 11 or something I bought this album on cassette:

Not sure if anyone remembers that guy.

Those explanations sound as good as any I have come up with. I almost never use the phrase just because I can't really explain it.

                        I'm with MMAscientist!

Who really gives a shit about the life of a singer? They sing.....they were born with the talent.....its not like they invented the atom bomb. I'd rather see a movie about Buffett,Jobs, Gates, or someone that actually did something. I want to see how their minds work, what they did, and how they got there.

See no problem with watching a girly movie if that's what you want to do.I just don't see giving a crap about their lives.

And I thought the new Spiderman was the best one yet.

I like getting glimpses of lifestyles and cultures that I don't normally have anything to do with. The day-to-day operations of a pop star actually sounds pretty interesting to me. What do they do when they're not on stage? I'm curious.
