I agree that Machida really should have to get one more win to legitimately be considered a title contender.

The win over Bader was a good one though considering the way that Bader pretty dominantly beat Rampage.

He beat Rampage, but that in itself is a hollow concept nowadays. Rampage has become a novelty at best with his steady lack of commitment.

Rampage isn't at the very top anymore but even shitty current day Rampage is going to beat 90% of the division.

I disagree. Bader isn't even in the top 75% of the division and he handled Rampage after the first round aside from that slam Rampage put on him. I would favor a ton of guys to beat Rampage right now.

              Vitor Belfort
              Joey Beltran
              Stephan Bonnar
              Randy Couture
              Phil Davis
              Cyrille Diabate

              Matt Hamill
              Dan Henderson
              Roger Hollett
              Rampage Jackson
              Ryan Jimmo
              Jon Jones
              Kyle Kingsbury
              Jorgen Kruth
              Chuck Liddell
              Lyoto Machida
              Vinny Magalhaes
              Fabio Maldonado
              Jimi Manuwa
              Vladimir Matyushenko
              Stanislav Nedkov
              Antonio Rogerio Nogueira
              Tito Ortiz
              Nick Penner
              Anthony Perosh
              Igor Pokrajac
              Wagner Prado
              Mauricio Rua
              Thiago Silva
              Chael Sonnen
              Krzysztof Soszynski
              James Te Huna
              Glover Teixeira
              Brandon Vera

Which of these guys would you say he beats without a shadow of a doubt? Aside from a few of the retired ones I'm not seeing a whole lot of "Rampage would ghost this guy" in there, certainly nowhere close to 90% of them.

I don't disagree on most of those, though I think Nedkov would have a shot and the jury is still out on Prado.

Bader not even in the top 75%? WTF? So he'll only beat 1 in 4 guys that he fights? Did you mean top 25%?

Sherdog has Bader at #9 in their rankings. Rampage is #10. I think that's probably about right.

I don't know about "without a shadow of a doubt" or the manner in which he would win these fights, but I would favor Rampage against the vast majority of that list.

A better question is who would I NOT favor him against. Jones, Evans, Gustaffson, Hendo and Machida I think would all beat him. Beyond those guys, I think it either could go either way (Belfort, Sonnen, Davis, Rua) or Rampage would win.

I don't see him beating Davis or Sonnen to be honest. After the first round it probably ends up looking alot like Bader/Rampage. I think Glover beats Rampage as well.

Sonnen needs to take a fight at 205 to really be on the list I think, but yeah, I would probably favor him. Not sure about Davis. We saw what happened the last time Davis fought a top guy. I could definitely see Rampage stuffing his takedowns and just boxing him up like he did against Hamill. But who knows. That's why I threw it into the "either way" category.

As for Glover, I really don't know enough to have an opinion. He beat up a bunch of guys in Brazil and killed Kyle Kingsbury.

I'll say this, that list is one shy of including 40 names and I could find less than 10 that I felt like had a shot to beat Rampage, and even some of those 10 I think Rampage might be able to beat. That to me says that a win over Rampage still means something.
