Nog is by the books a much better boxer than Gustaffson but i guess that doesnt matter anymore. I think Thiago beats him. Gustaggson could definetly win though.

I'm less inclined to pick Thiago here based mostly on the fact that he was never destined for the top ten anyway, but the fact that he's not competed since January 1st of last year puts him at a disadvantage from the get go. Let alone that Gustaffson is a killer who uses range very well. Thiago's only real path to victory is being on the ground and on top.

After watching video and stuff I am definitely going to play Gustafsson, just hoping his line gets under -200. Gustafsson has the whole hometown thing going for him, the reach, the size, being a giant, and better striking. I think he will pick Silva apart on the feet and probably even drop him early. The only thing Silva has got going for him in this fight is possibly doing the top control gameplan like he did against Vera, but I don't think he will be able to do that to Gustafsson for any long period of time. Silva will probably get his dick watched in the drug test to make sure he doesn't give them fake piss again, so steroids might be out of the equation. And it will be 13 months since his last fight, an overseas trip, and a short notice fight.

                Gustafsson will PIITB of Silva.

Gus is going to Machida him with his reach and more accurate striking.

Yeah, that's the fight that really made me think Gus is gonna win. Vera was also picking Silva apart and landing good shots for the entire 15 seconds in that 15 minute fight that they were on the feet.

...I think thiago is really good. Aside from his loss to machida he has done really well. He dropped Rashad in their fight. He outwrestled Vera for 15 minutes. Te huna took down Gustaffson pretty easily. So did Phil Davis. Thiago will probably be able to take him down and once he gets there he has huge huge power in his hands and the black belt in brazilian jiu jitsu. On the feet Thiago is dangerous as well. I'm not saying Gustaffson won't win but I would definetly be hesitant about betting him as a significant favorite. That said, Thiagos time off could hurt him. You said he has short notice? The fight is in April...He should be able to be prepared for this. I know he has lingering back issues but we don't know he will look like shit. He could come in looking great. Imo he has the grappling advantage in this fight. On the feet Gustaffson takes the technique but I wouldn't be shocked to see Thiago drop him. Thiago or nothing for me. Don't trive the train, baby.

Yeah but Te Huna also got his back taken and got choked out within like 45 seconds of taking Alex down. Honestly Gustafsson is all wrong for Thiago standing. He's a wild brawler with power and Gustafsson is a straight punch throwing sniper with power. On the ground Thiago will have an advantage assuming he's on top, but I just don't like how he's going to have to get it there. He has to get a clinch takedown really because I can't for the life of Me recall Thiago ever landing a double leg on anybody.

No he didn't. Gus stuffed Davis for awhile..Davis couldn't get him down. Then Gus got dumb and went for a TD of his own...that's when he got taken down.

It didn't go down exactly like that, but who cares, Gus is going to make fake pee boy his bitch

Thiago has a significant edge on the ground. If he is on bottom, he will be up or on top in short order. Rashad couldn't hold him down at all IIRC. But I didn't remember Te HUna taking Gus down... I am not going to bet Gus here, but I do think he will win.

I think Gustaffson is really good but Thiago will be his toughest opponent yet..he is fighting a long layoff with a short training camp though. That will be bad for him if it comes down to him grinding out a decision or even wrestling for 5-10 minutes.

And as far as Thiago being open to a pinpoint striker..that could be true but the only evidence so far is Machida. And lets face it, Machida is really good. He has dropped a lot of his opponents. Gustaffsons striking may be the shit but it also looks good when your facing guys like Matt Hamill and Vladimir Matyushenko. Granted it has looked really really good against those guys. The diabate win was very good as well. On the other hand, Diabate is 38, Vlady is 40 or so, Hamil retired right after the fight was over( he didn't look like he was mentally in the fight at all)
