Tate can't strike for shit. It is very poor and she has no power. So I can't imagine that it could be much better than Rousey's. If it is better, it is only marginally, and I don't think it will have much of an effect on the outcome.

Just on a side note, the only truly good female strikers that come to mind are Kaufman, Cyborg and Frausto. And maybe Budd and Nunes, but I really need to see more of both of them. Oh, and maybe de Randamie.

In every fight I've ever seen, Tate's striking is simply utilitarian. It's just there to keep her in the game long enough to get a takedown. It's not actually going to get her ahead on points.

Like I said, maybe it could be better solely due to the fact that Rousey's could be totally horrible.

I mean, who knows. Tate IS a champ. If you think she's going to win then you couldn't expect much better odds than what are available.

The only thing that conerns me is that it is very hard to beat the jap's in judo. Rousey did that.

With world class Judo that allowed her to medal in the Olympics what else would she use? Maybe she'd benefit from a grueling 3 round war prior to now but the fact that her judo is elite cannot be overlooked. Nothing Tate does is world class, and her striking is mostly defense oriented and designed to keep her from getting knocked out while creating openings for a shoot takedown. Like X said if her striking is any better than Rousey's the difference is minimal and probably won't make much of a difference because both of them want to get this fight to the ground.

Experience doesn't come into play so much at this stage in womens MMA because womens MMA right now is more like the rest of MMA was 12 years ago. Women's MMA hasn't quite started mixing everything up fluidly just yet. Most of the stars in womens MMA right now are one-to-two dimensional currently. You mostly have strikers who can sprawl, or grapplers who can set up takedowns or strikers who can throw subs from the bottom. With that in mind 20 fights versus 6 doesn't make as much of a difference as it would seem.

Rousey is going to win unless she has a gas tank problem, which she very well could with the grappling pace she sets plus the weight cut. Tate's best chance is to weather the storm and hope for the best. Tate migh have good enough grappling to survive for a little while. Probably not though. The only person that is going to give Rousey a test is Cyborg IMO. Rousey still needs to shit the fuck up once in a while though. I don't care at all about WMMA, but I am really hoping to see Tate beat her. Unlikely though IMO.

Ok maybe your right about Rousey. I guess Tate would need some kind of power in her hands to stop Rousey from closing the distance. I was originally on Rousey because she is a badass and all that but she IS still new to MMA. Tate has to have some skills that Rousey does not..It is at least a competitive fight. Tate is a semi decent wrestler with straight grappling experience. Don't forget Rousey was wearing a Gi about 1.5 years ago..I probably won't bet this at all. If I had to bet it would be Tate at +300.

Tate won the 2008 USA grappling world team trials in the 158.5-pound weight class. Not in wrestling. I don't remember if I posted that it was in wrestling before. She was the high school champ in womens wrestling. Ok no big deal. She could be a decent grappler but definetly not anywhere near Rouseys level. Not even remotely close. I thought she did better in wrestling. Yeah without power in her hands Rousey is probably going to kill her.
