Mike Goldberg opens the UFC 148 prelims by telling us that Yoislandy Izquierdo was victorious in his UFC debut. Off to a great start, Mike.

Totally satisfied. Maia is a grappler again, sonnen almost has to stop with his schtick now, and all is well with the world.

I got slaughtered on this card and some shit definitely did not go my way. I have been saying Khahib was going to win all week. I didn't bet him. I pulled the trigger on DHK/Maia going the distance. DHK decided to let his ribs pop out or whatever.

Oh..AND HOLY FUCKING SHIT I WAS WRONG ABOUT FUKUDA.

Was I just really drunk or was this card pretty lackluster/did not live up to the hype?

The fights were not great, except Silva/Sonnen. Tito/Forrest was pretty good too. I liked the Maia fight because I was excited to see him commit to the takedown... but yeah, the fights were not that great overall. BUt I thought the Silva/Sonnen fight delivered. It was hilarious to see Sonnen get thrown down and stiff armed like a little bitch. I am not sure why he just sat there after he missed on his elbow.

Oh and Tibau got screwed, so I wouldn't really call that a bad no bet. Maia was going to stop DHK. He was mounted, he was done whether his ribs were broken or not.

Tibau didnt do shit. Khabib was at least trying to push the fight. Tibau just stuffed takedowns and threw mayb 5 punches each rd.

And all of those ended really early.

Anyway, I guess the "Silva will have a whole 5 rounds to get his finish" was a good way to look at the fight after all, since Sonnen decided in round two that not falling down was for pussies.

Just to be a further sore-loser: the move where Silva yanked Sonnen's shorts as he tried to move away and punched him in the face was the most flagrant illegal clothing-grab I've ever seen in MMA. That should have been a separation and point deduction, especially as Silva had already been warned.

I was surprised to see that both Roller and Tibau supposedly landed more strikes than their opponents.

I had the Tibau fight for Nurm.

I thought Nurm won round 1 and Tibau took 2 and 3.

In 2 and 3 Nurm just flailed wildly with haymakers that didn't land and attempted takedowns that got stuffed. Tibau was more effective with his counter-punching and also got a few takedowns.

Nurm was leonard garcia to tibau's nam phan. Nurm was diego to tibau's kampmann. He was just throwing haymakers and whiffing badly. But the same as garcia and sanchez... apparently that wins mma scorecards

Phan and Kampmann at least landed counter punches. Tibau literally watched Nurm most of the fight. I would say nurm landed the more significant shots as well. he hit tibau pretty good a couple times.

agreed. I thought Tibau outlanded him but Nurm out spazzed him so he won.
