yeah we disagree on this but even then, i think even if Lawrence is a better striker, it is not that much better. I think Holloway is faster, for one.Comment

I don't remember Holloway winning the striking battle specifically. I remember not much going on standing up before Poirier went for the takedown because he was far and away the better ground fighter. Fighting smart doesn't equate to getting beaten in one area.2013: +8.24u(increased unit size on 5/19)

check out these snapshots. Holloway landed 2 good counter left hooks and 2 straight right hands.. all this within the first minute. Poirier didnt land anything with his hands, only 2-3 low kicks. they both threw alot but missed alot and it was a fast pace striking match b4 Poirier took Holloway down.Comment

I just watched the fight again. Holloway MIGHT have been winning until the takedown but it's very much debatable and was by no means decisive. He was getting hit just as much as he was hitting Poirier. Poirier only threw 5 strikes on the ground and the strike count was even 11 to 11 according to zYmetric.com.2013: +8.24u(increased unit size on 5/19)

I think its fair to say that fom what we have seen and the research that i have done that holloway is fairly one dimnsional. He wants to keep it standing and outstrike his opponent. Lawrence should be technically better standing due to his experience kickboxing. I also think he packs a lot more power. Holloway is 5'11" and this is 145 pounds. He is a skinny guy. He started training when he was 16. I doubt his technique is as sound as lawrences is with six iska titles.I just watched the fight again.
