I think MMA does more than boxing in ppv's per year. They also have a deal with Fox for 90 million per year. Boxing has hbo and showtime? PLus some regular channels. Call the channels equal. The tie breaker would be worldwide viewership. There are millions of people watching MMA in Europe and Brazil. Probably even more than boxing. Waaay more high level Brazilian MMA fighters than boxers.

There's no way the UFC sells more PPVs per year than boxing. I just added up ALL the UFC PPV's to date and they equal 3.5 million buys. Just Mayweather's two fights this year equal 3.4 million and that doesnt include any other PPV's from other fighters.
And LOL at Brazil and Europe watching more MMA than boxing. Brazil cant even sell 10,000 tickets to a PPV. Just last month 200,000 people showed up to a boxing match in Russia. Boxing routinely sells out 40k seat stadiums in Europe. Boxing is bigger in Europe than it is in the United States.

Waaay more high level Brazilian MMA fighters than boxers.

Boxing is definitely bigger world wide than MMA. MMA is niche, and that's fine. I actually think MMA popularity already peaked. As long as it is the UFC and nothing else, I don't think we will see mega numbers on an MMA PPV. I doubt they ever get 1M buys again tbh. They miiiight have done it with Silva/Jones or Silva/GSP... but now that ship has sailed.
