It's for damn sure a stronger division than heavyweight, which has like 5 good fighters total.
And here you go: Cruz, Barao, Faber, Menjivar, Mizugaki, McDonald, Wineland, Assuncao, Jorgensen, Pickett. That's 10 and you should know who all those guys are.I heart cockComment

Dude, the heavyweight division is like the weakest, most hilarious division in all of MMA. The fact of the matter is that other than the guys at the very top, they are just not all that skilled.
Did this somehow escape your attention or something?I heart cockComment

How can you say he wasnt suited for 145,the guy was champ at 145 for years? Now he can't beat Mike Brown, Aldo, Cruz, and Barao, but I'll admit Faber is top 5 in that division....but after holding the belt at 145 for years saying your top 5 at batamweight is about as good as saying you won a gold medal at the Special Olympics .2015 MMA BETTING CHAMP

That's to imply that heavier weights hold more intrinsic value than lighter weights.
Faber was champ at 145, but the competition wasn't as strong. I think the Brown losses were actually pretty flukey and guys like Aldo are just way too big for him.
The dude is like 5'4". 135 is clearly a more appropriate weight class for his frame and, while I think you could've made a strong argument for it being a weak weight class 4 years ago, it is pretty well established now with some elite talent. You seem to be stuck in 2009.I heart cockComment

Flukey? He lost twice to Brown. What elite talent is at 135? I see one guy, Barao. Besides that you have Cruz....a gimp...and Faber....a past his prime former champ. That's to imply that heavier weights hold more intrinsic value than lighter weights.

The question is: Is it the result of fighters weakening due to age, or is it that they were never as good as current fighters. I think it is a little of both, but I think it is mostly about aging.I'll be Weidman but that's not the point...Luke is correct and I was JUST thinking about that. All the "veterans" are not competitive at the top 3-5 guys in their weight classes anymore (except for Anderson..I think Weidman is his kryptonite to be honest). GSP/Hendricks is pretty damn interesting but I lean GSP for sure.
I wouldn't say that about WMMA though. There, I think it is mainly about better athletes getting into an obscure sport.Comment

I think that's the case(in all of MMA, not just women's). I wouldn't say the older guys weren't very good . The times have just passed them byLast edited by Luke; 09-26-2013, 08:37 PM.2015 MMA BETTING CHAMP

Leandro "Feijao" Souza, 26, a Brazilian mixed martial arts fighter who was scheduled to compete on Friday in a flyweight bout at Shoot 43 in Brazil, died Thursday at the weigh-in for the event, a prominent Brazilian trainer confirmed via Facebook. Andre Pederneiras, the coach of the powerful Brazilian-based Nova Uniao team that numbers UFC champions Jose Aldo and Renan Barao among its members, confirmed Souza's death.
MMA Fighting, which first reported the death, quoted teammate Andre Santos as saying the death was related to Souza's weight cut.
In his Facebook post, Pederneiras said the cause of death remains unknown.
