X, I went to Chicago to compete this weekend (I lost both my matches- so yeah). I completely forgot about it... I did watch the Browne/Reem fight yesterday. I have no thoughts on that except to congratulate poopoo on his excellent forecast of Browne, which goes back a couple of years.2012: +19.33

Ok starting with the prelims:
I am looking forward to OSP getting a top 10 guy so I can bet against him. He is very overrated.
Diego Brandao vs Daniel Pineda was a fun fight for a little bit. Pineda is a very tough guy. It's obvious his gameplan was to weather the storm until Brandao gassed out. This happened, but the storm was pretty damn strong so Pineda got the fuck beat out of him which made him too tired to capitalize as well. Brandao is always -300 or worse it seems and it's insane. I will always fade Brandao against a halfway decent guy that has OK cardio.
Steven Siler KO'd Mike Brown right away. Didn't think Brown would win this one...he has retired 50 times in the last couple years and that's never a good sign especially when you are fighting an up and coming guy that has shown he is legit in previous fights.
Conor McGregor vs Max Holloway: I'm not some striking expert, but Conor is very susceptible to leg kicks in my opinion. Aldo would exploit that. I know he has a lot of hype around him and it's probably stupid to put him against a top contender right away but him vs Swanson would be really fun. I think they give him Dennis Siver next. I would prefer they let Charles Oliveira win his next fight and fight Conor next.
Michael McDonald vs Uriah Faber next. Do it. Now.
I feel bad for Uriah Hall. Dana White hyped him up so much because he did well on a TV show against low level guys under odd circumstances. Everybody expected him to be amazing so he loses to a: very tough solid wrestler in Gastelum and a veteran in Howard and now he "sucks" to everybody.
Johnson vs Lauzon: This fight had a Lauzon win all over it. Michael Johnson has bad defensive grappling and has shown poor takedown defense in the past. I bet Johnson in this one. How was Lauzon going to get this one down? When Johnson has been taken down by lesser opponents it was after a high paced fight where he had gassed. He obviously had the striking edge based on his past fights. +200 was nuts. Lauzon is good but I think being exciting makes him overrated by the fans. Just think about if Varner didn't make that mistake...Lauzon would have lost 4 in a row Saturday night.
I want to see Matt Brown vs Robbie Lawler. It's unfortunate Lawler is fighting Rory MacDonald next. I think Brown will get Saffiedine or Ellenberger.
I think Browne should fight winner of Barnett/Mir or even Miocic next. Overeem vs Big Nog is what I want to see next but Big Nog wants Struve I guess. We will probably see Reem vs Hunt next.
Chael Sonnen vs Wanderlei Silva should happen. It seems Belfort might get that spot though against Sonnen. I think they should do Chael/Wandy and let Chael fight Vitor after he kills Wandy.
I don't think Shogun should get a top 10 guy next. They would all be rematches except for Rashad, Phil Davis, Glover, and Mousasi. The first 3 would make no sense considering Shogun is on a 2 fight losing streak. Mousasi MIGHT make sense but Shogun vs Thiago Silva would be a decent match up.Comment

I lost both matches despite not giving up a single point. First one I lost on an advantage because I had to defend a sub attempt, and the second one I lost on a ref's decision, which was also due to an advantage for initiating the takedown (though he didn't get it) and then he lost the advantage for stalling- so it was 0-0 with no advantages, but I lost on criteria because he had an advantage that was taken away. It was pretty frustrating. BJJ scoring is really stupid. I think I might start doing sub only tournaments exclusively.
yeah, my mind was blown when I read about the Sonnen sub. I guess Shogun's ground game is a bit overrated given that he hasn't subbed anyone other than Randleman like a decade ago and he has now been subbed by both Sonnen and Griffin.2012: +19.33

I was joking,but I'll give a few thoughts. I was busy so only saw the last three fights.
Matt Brown looked great against Pyle, but it was Mike Pyle . The same Mike Pyle that clearly lost to Story and was no where near the top ten coming into this fight. Matt Bown now has Tim Boetch syndrome where everyone thinks he is better than he really is. Yes, his win streak is nice ,but he hasnt fought one single guy anywhere near the top 10 nor has he fought anyone with any wrestling skills. I think he would get destroyed by a good striker in the top ten (Kampmann,Conidt) and would lose to anyone with any decent wrestling skills (Ellenberger, Kos, etc) . I want to see him fight one of the four people I mentioned AND WIN before I give him much credit. I still believe he's just a mid-tier , top 15 fighter.
Reem is classic Mike Tyson late in his career. He goes in , throws huge bombs, and if his opponent doesnt wilt he gasses or goes into give up mode. I think he spent so many years in Roids that he doesn't even have the urge to fight now that he has to do it fairly. I do still believe he'll fight for the title. Dana knows there's a huge PPV sitting there if he can just guide Reem there. I think they'll give give Reem someone who can't hurt him and will make him look really good in his next fight. Stipe comes to mind, but I dont know.
Sonnen dominated Rua which surprised me. When Shogun got up so quickly after the first TD,I thought Sonnen could be in trouble. Was shocked to see Sonnen sub Shogun. I thought Chael looked good at 205 and always thought he was drained at 185 . Sonnen should go on the Brazilian tour to end his career by fighting Wand, Belfort, Machida , then Silva a third time. As long as he wins 2 of the first 3, Silva-Sonnen III would be a good sell. Rua, I don't know what to say about him. If Dana still wants him in the UFC , he's going to have to match him up against strikers. Lil Nog, Mousasi, or Silva would work, although I'm not sure who he can beat at this point in his career.2015 MMA BETTING CHAMP
