Just watched the video. You can tell Royler was in a lot of pain but wouldn't have tapped out even if his leg snapped in half

Eh, I don't know how close it really was. Calf slicers look like they hurt, but some guys aren't bothered by them (including me). I was more worried about the outward pressure on his knee, but I think Royler was more frustrated that he couldn't move than anything. You hardly ever see a little guy tap out to leg locks, much less a compression lock.
Eddie did get the better of him though. And Royler also acted like a douche several times, Eddie came off really well, which will only reignite his idiotic fan club. It definitely was not as one sided as people are making it out to be. Royler had several sweeps too. Eddie started to take over later in the match, which was unexpected, I thought Eddie would gas out. All in all, it was a good event, I was definitely more entertained than any UFC card in the last 2 years. Massive improvement over Metamoris 2 by having Florian/Glover doing the commentary.
The only really shitty match was the Rafa/Clark match IMO. It was everything gay about sport jj.
Also shitty was that Keenan's match fell through with Vinny, he ended up facing Kevin Casey, which Casey had no chance in (but hit a couple of really nice foot sweep takedowns).
Babalu did way better than I thought he was going to. He looked like he was completely outclasses for about 7 minutes, and then did well. Dean still got the better of him by a large margin, but I was impressed with Babalu.2012: +19.33

Seems like the Eddie Bravo vs. Gracie family rivalry won’t end after Metamoris 3.
Eleven years after Bravo’s historical submission victory over Royler Gracie at ADCC, they fought to a draw in a 20-minute, submission-only match at Metamoris 3 in Los Angeles, Calif., but the result wasn’t enough for Royce Gracie.
According to a report on the Underground, Royce Gracie went backstage looking for Bravo after the 20-minute match, and the MMA legend confirmed the story to MMAFighting.com.
"I wanted to talk to him for years, but never had the chance to meet him," Royce Gracie told MMAFighting.com on Monday. "I met him after the fight and he was there, throwing up. Royler dominated him so much, he did so much strength, that he threw up after the fight."
Royce Gracie said he liked what Bravo said on the mat after the rematch, but wasn’t happy with the comments he made about jiu-jitsu and the Gracie family in the past.
"I told him that I liked what he said after the fight, but didn’t like the fact that he always talked trash about Royler and my family," he said. "He stood up and started yelling, so I also raised the tone of my voice and told him I didn’t like it."
"He said he always gave my family credit, but I know it’s not true," Gracie continued. "He always talks trash about my family. Enough with this s---. He said he never talked bad about my family and he always gave us credit. He kept raising the tone of his voice, and I told him to shut up, so Jean Jacques (Machado) came in, said we didn’t need this and asked (Bravo) to leave."
Royce Gracie hasn’t competed in a grappling match since a controversial loss to Hidehiko Yoshida at PRIDE in 2002, and he won’t consider competing against Eddie Bravo in a future edition of Metamoris. However, he wouldn’t rule out a MMA fight with Bravo.
"Can we slap each other? Can we beat each other?" Gracie replied a laugh when asked if he’d accept to fight Bravo at Metamoris.
"I’m a vale-tudo fighter. I’m not a fighter to score points of fight with time limit. Let’s (fight) with no time limit and with punches allowed. I’m a vale-tudo fighter, I don’t compete in (grappling) tournaments."

I would like to see bravo best royce in bjj. Ive noticed the delusional aspect about the gracies. Renzo used to refer t himself as the fucking legend. I am the legend, renzo gracie. Royce always looks so arrogant. I know who they are and that they are important and all but i dont really like the arrogance. They act like the are kings.
I know you dont like bravo scientist but i never really had an issue with him. Yeah maybe he is more ofna business man than anything else and he makes cheesy music but hes never come off as a dick. Never been arrogant or anything. Hes just a little odd.1 unit = 300 $Comment

I don't really dislike Bravo himself. I dislike his 10th planet cult-like following and the fact that he gets way more credit that he deserves in terms of accomplishments. The reality is that he never won anything in BJJ. He beat Royler when Royler was 38, that's it (he got destroyed in the next round by Leo Viera). He didn't even use his "system" in that match. I thought Eddie did really well in the Metamoris match, much better than anyone thought he would do. It doesn't mean anything in terms of overall BJJ community though. I just dislike all the dishonest hype, not so much Eddie himself, who does usually come off pretty well in interviews and has given nothing but credit to the Gracie clan, and Jean Jacques Machado. I love JJM, one of my all time favorite grapplers, and I learned a ton from him in a couple of seminars.
I dislike Royce more than Bravo tbh, if they were to fight, I would root for Eddie or a double knockout. I really don't like the Gracie clan, from all accounts Helio was a terrible human being. I don't like Royce, I don't like Rickson. I do like Royler, but he made an ass of himself in that match- fighting dirty, trying to get out of the bad spot on the reset. Renzo, I have never met, but everyone just says he is crazy for real, not just a douche like his brothers. I dislike the Torrance Gracie Academy much more than 10th Planet.
They are way worse than 10thp about making up ridiculous lies and selling out. The main difference is that they (Gracie clan, Gracie Academy) actually did accomplish something, whereas 10th Planet still has not produced a single top calibur grappler. Personality wise and in terms of respect for the men themselves, I am not a fan of the Gracies (I am talking about Helio and his sons, not the new generation guys). But in terms of what they accomplished, I respect that.
As for Bravo vs. Royce, I don't even think it would be competitive. Royce is a lot bigger though, so who knows. I don't even try to argue that Royce is as good a grappler as Eddie. Eddie is better at sport BJJ, its a fact.2012: +19.33

Just the normal stuff you hear- he had several families at the same time (Rickson is the maid's son), he supposedly said some pretty terrible things to people after Rolls died, can't remember who exactly, but it had something to do with none of his legitimate kids being nearly as good as Rolls and Rickson and he couldn't hack that. He also had the Gracie family trait of pride that goes so far it is obvious denial (he still claimed he was undefeated even though there is a video of him getting beaten by Kimura). He would not acknowledge that as a loss. Also, he was supposedly a really bad thug (not the weakling the propaganda spins him to be) and would regularly beat people up or have his clan. I have heard he killed some people in Brazil as well. All around POS by most measures.
That said, a lot of pioneers are supremely flawed people.2012: +19.33

I don't have anything specific to tell you. An old guy from the old days in Brazil just told me some stories, and he said that Helio killed a guy on a bus once right in front of him. It may not even be true. I have heard about the beatings from a lot of sources though, and I don't even think they thought it was a big deal. I will say that I have not heard a lot of positive things about his character other than from the Gracie Academy and his kids.2012: +19.33
