Yes but that's when he's not training. He might come into camp at 210, but he loses a lot of that in training camp. When he goes to actually cut water to make weight he's most likely in the low 190s.

Walk around weight =/= fight weight
True. The guy at my gym that just fought at 155 weight 230 a couple months ago. He was training, but not training for a fight. When he got the call, he was down to 180 pretty damn fast.

Personally, I think it is a lack of discipline. If I am a professional fighter, I am not going to be getting all fat everytime Ihave a few months off. Thiago is only 5"10. He is shorter than I am. Even NFL running backs don't carry that much mass around. Don't make me post the roid pics again. Plus he missed weight a couple times and got caught with dieuretics another time.

Anthony Johnson is the same thing. He just gets James Toney level fat between fights. Have some self control dude.

      Re: UFC 116 discussion/matchups

I realize that. However between fights he's still walking into camp at 210+lbs which still means he is cutting about 40-50lbs by the time it's all said and done. My point was that just because a guy is cutting alot of weight doesn't mean his conditioning is going to be shit by default.

        Re: UFC 116 discussion/matchups

The term 'cut' is a semantics nightmare. If a guy is dropping lots of weight in training, it should affect his conditioning in a positive way. But when 'cutting' water to make weight that's where the idea of cutting too much drains you.

And I agree it's a lack of discipline. Anthony Johnson is ridiculous he has like a triple chin right now. These fuckin guys must go terrorize the snack bar right after a fight and just absolutely binge. Leben said he ate a large pizza after his fight a few weeks ago.

Yeah but try not eating any cheeseburgers or pizzas at all in life. It's easy to hold a professional to those standards but eventually you want some to eat something that isn't good for you. Human nature.

I'm not trying to talk down to them, but cmon. Binging after a fight is one thing, but just eating whatever you want when you're not training definitely shows a lack of discipline. Having a cheat meal or even cheat day every week is a lot different than mowing down Burger King for every meal because you don't have a fight coming up. You don't ever see guys like GSP balloon up in between fights.

BTW, did anyone watch that interview from Strikeforce with Cung Le in the locker room after his fight last week? Every other sentence he kept screaming out "PIZZA AND COOKIESSSSSS!!!" like he was 10 years old. It was pretty damn funny.

Just gonna throw up some links here. Lots of disparity on picks for this fight.

                  Sherdog Pros' Picks.

                  http://www.sherdog.com/news/articles/3/ ... rwin-25450

Very surprising imo how the overwhelming majority picked Carwin (even though lots of them have ridiculous reasons).

                  Pros who picked Lesnar: 14
                  Pros who picked Carwin: 38
                  Pros who couldn’t decide: 9
                  Tomas Rios picks Lesnar

                  http://www.sherdog.com/news/news/UFC-11 ... Card-25402

Performify actually has a writeup and is big on Lesnar

                  http://mmajunkie.com/news/19777/perform ... fc-116.mma

SPX best friend Mike Hammersmith picks Carwin

                  http://www.mmamafia.net/mma-news/featur ... dvice.html

"Pros'" Picks on MMA Moneyline, 71% pick Carwin

You know, I really thought Cro Cop would win this. And I stupidly fell for the hype on the message boards.

                          Another example:

I thought Rampage would beat Rashad, but I only gave him a slight advantage. Then that final scene with Rampage going crazy in the Primetime show came, then his fired up weigh in, etc....I became convinced "Rashad is going to lose for sure". I threw out the ring rust, fat camp, and all that stuff out the window.
