    Believe it.

I have actually considered taking a fight many times. I am just embarassed to take my shirt off and reveal my sexy love handles and man-tits to the world. And I am way too lazy and confortable to get into that kind of shape.

I shit on fighter's skills all the time, but I respect the cardio involved with going 15 minutes. I compete all the time in bjj, and I gas aggregiously in a 7 minute match- most of the time, I am not really even expending much energy. I am just that fat.

So the real scientist comes out.

      You should go for it.

As far as getting in shape, I gotta ask. If you compete in BJJ all the time, what the hell are you eating to stay so fat? It's like the Roy Nelson conundrum.

        Feel you on that.

My boy is a pro boxer, turned pro at around 30 years old, so it makes me feel like Its not too late. He did it with no ammy experience at all, and had a decent time of it.

        http://boxrec.com/list_bouts.php?human_ ... &cat=boxer

I think Im going to start training either boxing or MMA at the end of the summer and get my cardio up and give it a shot, just so I can say I did at least one pro fight. My brother always is encouraging me to do it, but I think this time, I will finally go through with it. We were fooling around sparring in my garage a couple summers back, and holy shit, I was tired after one round.

They just opened an MMA gym near me too ( Rocco MMA ) so all the more reason.

          Re: Bellator Odds Up

I am not really very fat... but definately not cut. I am 5"11 190#.

I cannot take a fight... I don't have a desire to be a fighter. If I did it, it would be to test my bjj, not really to win a fight and have people cheer me. I WILL probably take a vale tudo fight in Brazil in a few (maybe several) years when I am ready for my black belt. It is sort of a right of passage IMO. You can be a BB without at least one mma or vale tudo fight.

But I am a real person in the community where I live, people know who I am and I have a public image ot maintain for work. It would be scandalous if I were fighting in a cage like an animal. I have to go to Brazil and fight on the beach or something. No one can know.

This is the gym im going to in September.

Its literally 3 minute drive from me.

This is the best mma gym in the city, but its a kind of a haul for me, but Eddie Alvarez trains there.

After seeing my "friend" have success with boxing, Im probably going to lean that way first. He and I were by far the toughest guys in the neighborhood, and my thinking is, if he wan win, why cant I? But he always had cardio for days, where I do not, but I had more power, partly because of my build (think David Tua).

that is pretty sweet. I used to train at an mma gym. But I find the vibe to a lot better in sport bjj. You don't get as many guys walking in thinking they are the next chuck lidell... though it still happens. It is alot more guys coming in to just get in shape, or for a fun hobby. we have mix of guys, fighters, hobbyists, competitors... I really like it. And the emphasis for me is that I can do it until I am in my 80's. I want to be the over 60 world champion.
But even at the MMA place, they should have a beginner's class and stuff.

                        Do it.

                        Do it.

Maybe we can fight each other, since we are too old to fight the yungins.

I was probably that guy when I was younger. I was a pretty good athlete, but had a serious attitude problem. I probably could have used an ass whoopin or two, but anyway.......

I think mentally, Im in a much better place now to do it. even if I get my ass kicked, I want to be able to say I went through with it.
