So I don't trust him or his camp.

    We'll never know?

According to a report on tatame.com.br and translated by fightersonlymagazine.co.uk, Anderson Silva suffered a rib injury in the first round of his bout against Chael Sonnen at UFC 117.

According to Silva's Jiu-Jitsu coach Ramon Lemos, after the first round Silva went back to his corner saying he broke a rib and that he could not take a deep breath.

His trainer told him to forget about the rib and work his movement and look for the triangle. As we all saw, that was good advice.

After the fight Silva was taken to a local hospital for X-rays, which revealed that he suffered a cracked rib.

Ramos stated, "Anderson is expected to return in February or March. We have not talked, but he has to take care of injuries...He is no longer a boy, he is 34 years old."

Lemos also said that the fight “was worthy of a champion. Whoever thinks Anderson is only sharp in the stand-up now has to more careful when taking him down…on the floor he is increasingly dangerous!”

So he suffered the injury in the first round? Well that shit happens. People break ribs, hands, etc. all the time. That doesn't take away from what Chael did . . . if anything, it adds to it.

I think Anderson said it was pre-existing though, from getting thrown by Ishii.

So Chael exacerbated a pre-existing injury.

                          Re: UFC 117

I personally consider going over my bets post-fight to try and figure out where the "right" line was to be one of my post important betting rituals. I don't want to beat myself up for a losing bet that was correctly placed, and I definitely don't want to fall into the trap of assuming I was right even though my guy sucked, but lucked out. Both of those are prescriptions for making bad bets on those fighters down the road.

There's no doubt in my mind that there are many fights with discernible value at all places in the odds range. Different people might be better at finding good picks at different spots, but anyone who tries to tell you that there's only one right type of fight to bet on (just betting underdogs or just betting favorites) is full of BS.

I think that every single fight has value. EVERY fight. You just have to be good enough to know how to find it. (And I'm not saying I'm that guy.)

Apparently Silva greased too. Scientist, wouldnt that make the triangle a hell of a lot harder to lock in?

                              http://www.bloodyelbow.com/2010/8/5/160 ... onnen-says

Chael Sonnen - "He [Anderson Silva] wears these tiny little shorts, his skin is very slippery. He's one of these guys that greases up. So you got to get a hold of the fabric, there isn't much there. Yeah he's a hard guy to drag down. A lot of guys have had problems with it."

"But he's not the first cheater I've dealt with. He's not the first guy that discovered he can soak himself in baby oil before he walks to the ring."

"Again, I have a lot of obstacles to deal with, that's just one more."

^^ yeah I read that before the fight. I have to think it would make the submission harder for both guys. Of course, it is just BS. No one has accused Silva of greasing, except Chael... who did so before the fight.
