2010 Off topic thread(basketball,movies,etc whatever)
Re: Off topic thread(basketball,movies,etc whatever)
If by some off chance, you are serious.. start on page 65 of this thread and read
Basically, 10thplanet is a joke and it is nothing more than a ridiculous marketing gimmick. See Nino Schembri if you want to see a flexible bjj player using a high-guard.

^^ Yeah, Inception was teh best sci-fi movie I have seen in at least a decade.
I am trying to get in shape for either that fight I told you guys about or the Pan Ams. I am at the age where I probably have about 3-4 years left where I am able to compete with the younger guys of the same experience. I just don't want to waste it. I have never really been in great shape. I have have had great cardio in the past, but never been in overall athletic peak condition.
Cool man, I wish you nothing but the best. Looking forward to see how this plays out.
Maybe ill sponsor you with an IWS patch on your shorts when you fight. Ill throw you like 20 bucks?

What happened?
My instructor(s) fucking sucked, for one. It was a husband and wife team. She was okay, but didn't really know anything about any other martial arts, and her class was way too laid back. He was a fucking asshole who would bark orders at you and obviously thought that he knew everything about everything when it came to martial arts, and no one else knew shit. They were also adamantly opposed to MMA, saying that MMArtists are disrespectful and don't know the true meaning of martial arts, or some bullshit like that.
I have corresponded a little with another instructor who is here, and I think he'd be a much better fit. He has cross-trained in other martial arts and even did MT for a couple of years. I saw him at our yellow belt testing and he threw a few kicks and had some really nice technique. The problem is that he lives WAY the fuck out in the suburbs and, for at least the next month or so, he only teaches on Fridays at 5:30 and I don't get off work until 5:30.
When he moves back to teaching on Tuesdays and Thursdays I might look into going out to his class, but it's going to be difficult without a car.

^^ sorry. Unfortunately, I think if you have your heart set on TKD you are going to have to sort through some shit to find someone that can train you legitimately. There are a lot of mcdojos out there.

Seems like you just personally hate Eddie Bravo. That's fine, but his ideas are absolutely the future. Just like a hundred years ago when Maeda brought judo to Brazil and then Gracie took judo to the next level calling it Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Now Bravo and others are taking Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu to the next level with emphasis on no-gi and defense of strikes on the ground.
