Shogun uses his ground game to leverage positions for head pounding. I'm not going to call him a wrestler because that's not what he does.

I hope you're just being glib and not actually that retarded.
I really don't agree that his BJJ is the best part of his game. Best in what sense? Because he has only won one fight by submission.
I'm not saying he doesn't have good ground skills, but Shogun is a striker.
Shogun is only able to pull off alot of the striking he does(especially the flashy karate spin kicks and shit) because he knows for a fact even if he does get taken down he's a very accomplished grappler. Lets not kid ourselves and act like he's a Striker who can grapple, he was a Grappler who is at a level of grappling that he can do basically whatever he wants with strikes without much worry.

Christ BJJ is expensive. I can't even find this BOOK for less than $25 and it's used.

I'm not saying that BJJ was only submissions. I'm saying that when people talk about someone's BJJ they're usually talking about their ability to submit people. When they talk about their wrestling, they're usually talking about their ability to move.
When someone talks about shooting double-legs, they almost always refer to that as that fighter's "wrestling." But Judo has double-legs, too.
I hope you see what I'm getting at.
Thats because there are a vast number of guys who wrestling in MMA and very few in contrast who have done any serious Judo work.

^^ I haven't looked at it. But I have heard that Danaher is a really good teacher. You can't really learn shit from a book. They are nice as a supplement and reference though.

It is one of the more expensive books. It is full color glossy on every page, and it is thick. I think I paid $40 bucks for it at B&N.
I probably wouldn't buy it though, unless you are planning on training. Because most of it is pretty basic, but there a alot of details for a book. You aren't going to see anything in there you haven't seen before. But there is a lot of Saulo's philosophy in there, which is why I like it. Just flip through it at B&N.
