When the numbers are this close it's hard to make a case for the guy who sits back and isn't initiating all night. I can see why someone might have Pac or Marquez winning, I personally had it a draw at the time. But I don't have a problem with someone who throws more, lands more, and steps forward the whole time getting the nod.

So katsidis should never lose then? as long as you throw and land more, you should win. Poor logic. If someone is effectively countering and parrying then he should be rewarded.
Seriously though, I think it will come down to defense. Mayweather will probably be able to defend and counter-punch like he always does. But I'm for damn sure not a credible boxing analyst.
Effective countering has always been a dangerous game to play because if you don't look especially good doing it the judges won't be convinced. This fight is a perfect example in which the significant strikes are almost identical(it breaks down to Pac landing like 1.5 more significant strikes per round).

You talking about which fights? Most of his losses are him getting CLEARLY beat.
none in particular. I'm just trying to make the argument that aggression and punch output shouldnt be favored over countering. I think if someone lands 20 of 50 shots in a round compared to 20 of 100. Then the more accurate, better defensive fights should win that round. I didnt really watch the pac fight so I cant really say who I think won or lost that fight.

I am not sure that is fair though. The guy who is coming foward throwing more is the guy taking the chance. He will obviously leave himself open for the counters. If one guy pushes foward and throws 80 punches a round but only lands 6 shots while the other guy just covers up against the ropes and throws 12 shots but lands half of them...well, who should get the round? If not for the active guy coming foward you would not even have a fight.
