A welterweight slugfest is brewing between UFC 170-pound gun-slingers Carlos "The Natural Born Killer" Condit and Chris "Lights Out" Lytle.

A source close to the bout has informed me that the two veterans are slated to face one another at UFC 126: Silva vs. Belfort at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas.

Apparently Rumble's trying to get some of Condit, too.

I heard he said some shit along the lines of how Condit's not a real fighter, or something like that.

            LOL

He's coming up on a year since his last fight. People are gonna start forgetting who he is pretty soon.

I'm sure he's just trying to start shit. He probably thinks Condit would be a relatively easy win against someone who's quickly becoming a real contender and wants to get some hype going.

Okay, just did some quick research and apparently this is what really happened. Roy Nelson questioned Condit via Twitter for turning down the fight with Fitch and Rumble responded by saying, "I agree wit u big man. No point of saying ur a fighter if ur gonna turn down a challenge."

So I guess that's a little different than I was thinking.

They're giving Torres some gimmes before they risk letting him lose to another top fighter. I bet they're trying to put this shit together chess match style to where Faber wins the title and then we finally get Faber v Torres . . . and all under the banner of the UFC, no less.

^^ no doubt, the UFC would love Torres/Faber. Banuelos is not an easy fight though, IMO.

I don't see it working out though.

Banuelos is fine, but so is Valencia, and Torres just embarassed him. I've always thought Torres has been a little overrated and that he benefited from a division full of so-so competition, and I'm not sure that he'll ever be champ again, but I also don't think he'll lose to anyone who is either not a champ or a top contender, either.

And Banuelos is not champ material, I don't think.

Faber's beat Cruz once already (fairly effortlessly, too) and I think he can do it again. So if Faber beats Cruz and Torres beats Banuelos, they could just say fuck it, and BAM! Faber v Torres.

Cruz also has to beat Jorgenson in the meantime, and Faber has to beat Mizugaki as well. Of course it could line up, but the odds aren't particularly great imo. When you try and plan your big events out based on who you want to win it never seems to work. Look at Strikeforce for all the examples needed.
