I rewatched the fgiht ,BJ didnt win rd 2.He spent the first 2:30 of the round getting taken down and planted against the cage and spent the last 1:00 getting GnP on the floor .

The only thing BJ did in rd 2 was get a TD that he did nothing with and got reversed quickly, that doesnt win you a round imo

Yep, the only other thing was that he drew blood from Fitch's nose. So those people who base the round on whose face looked worse would give it to Penn.

I could have this wrong, but I think they said on Beatdwon after the Bell that they didn't have the same three judges for all the fights. I didn't realize they ever did things that way. It might explain some of the apparent inconsistencies.

The half point system is totally gay. Explain how it can fix anything when the problem is the judges.

The half-point system has been used in kickboxing for ages, and a lot of judges who have used it say that going back to the 10-point-must system is very frustrating.

If judges were more willing to give 10-10s and 10-8s then that would at least be better, but they're not going to do it. Apparently everyone was very satisfied with the half-point system at the CAMO bouts, though.

you know Dana is only out to promote the UFC, why would anyone care who he thought won?


Dana is the only person I've seen say Penn should have won the fight . About 65% of the people I see say Fitch won and 35 % say a draw was fine,no one is saying Penn won from what I've read


Dana just doesnt like Fitch is all it is . Like him or not if GSP moves to 185 either boring Fitch or boring Shields will hold the belt

You're right more 10-10s and 10-8s would probably fix everything .They just really need to start cracking down on judges is all .

Yeah the judges need to be better. It wouldn't hurt to adjust the scoring system to .5's though. It would allow the judges to be more precise with their scores.

They can be more precise right now. 10-8 and 10-7 exist for a reason. However, if the half point system removes the stigma associated with 10-8s, then sure, why the hell not. The problem is that half the time the judges can't even decide which guy won the round at all, so what good is giving them more ways to fuck up going to help?

Also, Doc Hamilton's system is more than just half points. The 4th judge or 'table judge' who scores objective criteria in the event of a draw is just bizarre.

I actually agree with Dana a little bit. I like Fitch, but he doesn't so much beat people as stay on them until time expires. He (Fitch) says he is constantly trying to finish, but I don't agree. He had Penn dead to rights in round 3 and he never attempted to pass the guard or put any stank on his strikes. Not many guys can finish a fight via GNP from inside the guard, and certainly not against a grappler like Penn.

Had there been another round, Penn wouldn't make it out of it. If he passed his guard, I'd bet Penn scrambles up.
