    Re: WEC 53 Discussion

I have to look more at Menjivar later. But Pickett is a beast. How is Menjivar's TDD? And his bottom game? Pickett is good on the feet and has great TDs. He threw Demetrious Johnson around like he was a feather. He was also cracking Jorgensen on the feet. This is Menjivar's 1st (I am pretty sure) cut to 135 lbs as well which is another factor. Why did Menjivar come back after 4 years? Is he broke? Just fighting for a paycheck?

To be fair, it will be his second fight back after his 4 year layoff. I have no idea why he was gone for so long. If it stays standing, Pickett will light him up.

I think Menjivar will be going after takedowns... Pickett has definitely improved in the grappling department, but Menjivar used to fight at WW. I am just concerned he will blanket him with his size.

Damn, Bodog opened Cerrone at -525. That's crazy.

OK, after doing some research on Ivan. I will NOT bet Pickett.

Menjivar seems to actually be very good, and most(if not all) of his looses can be excused as a small guy competeing against much bigger guys because of the lack of smaller guys back in the day.

I now think he has a very good chance at outwrestling Pickett for 3 rounds.

Any1 know anything about yuri alcantara? dudes got a pretty nice record and his competition seems to be decent. He seems to be pretty good with regards to jui jitsu and muay thai striking. Lamas should be able to lay and pray for a decision so I dont know if I will bet yuri

Yea, it is just another fight where I just do not think I am knowledgeable enough to make a good assessmant. I like Lamas, and think he is pretty damn good, but Yuri looks like he might give him trouble.

the line is a little too high is what I think, and I'm a big Cerrone fan.

I think Cerrone will win too, but I cannot figure out why he is favored so much. Horodecki is good and he has a lot of quality wins himself to just a couple of losses to pretty good guys. Line is way off IMO, but since I think Cerrone will win... not going to bet

Cerrone looked really impressive against Varner. Also Sherdog gave his first fight with Ben Henderson to him.

^^ He is going to win... but he got wobbled by Ratcliff and he got rocked by Varner several times. Horodecki is tough to finish. I would put it at like -270 for Cerrone, personally. But yeah, Horodecki has limited outs.

WEC 53: Dominick Cruz 'out for at least 4-6 months' following Scott Jorgensen fight

"It’s one of those things I’ve been putting off, and you always train with things that hurt and you learn in this sport and as you’re growing, and as you’re growing in sports related to MMA, you learn that injuries are part of what you do. You figure out a way to work around them. I’ve been fine through this camp, it hasn’t been an issue. I’ve been able to do everything I need to do to be 100-percent prepared, and now I’m ready to go into this fight and just do what I’ve got to do. After I get the hand surgery, I’ll probably be out for at least four to six months. The type of work they need to do to my hand, that’s what they told me, but I’m a quick recovery type guy so I’m going to go ahead and say four months. That’s really not too bad."
