There is not one person on this site that doesn't have AT LEAST the capacity to earn $50k. Work that job plus another job. Only sleep and work. Save and invest all of your money. You will be "rich" in a matter of a few years. If you want a shortcut, start a business, almost every rich person I have ever met was an entrepreneur.

It would suck too bad to actually do, but it is a choice you make. If I wanted it badly enough, I have no doubt I could do it. I just don't want to trade the other things that I value more than money (time, family, friends).

To start a business, you actually have to have money, right?

A little, but not much. I started a painting business with my brother a few years back. It cost me like $30, and we were on pace to do $50k gross in the first year. I just committed to passing out 1000 flyers a day, and I got a call for a job almost every single day. I made a little brochure on my computer, and had a realtor present it to her office. My idea was that I would paint the houses that were listed, and they would sign a contract to pay me when the house sold. I charged exorbitant amounts and got a lot of jobs that way. Then I had the flyer jobs painting like one room or taking off some wallpaper. It was easy. Then my brother went to prison and I hired a guy to do teh work for a while. BUt he screwed me and I have no interest in actually laboring for a living. I just like coming up with business plans and trying to implement them.

If he wants to buy an equivalent house, say 900 feet or so, probably looking at about a $500 mortgage payment. But that may not buy anything in SLC, I don't know. But it is true, you can't buy in the city. BUt then again, that is a choice you are making.
He actually lives in Ogden, which is an 80K person city about half an hour north of Salt Lake. It's not particularly nice or desirable. Neither is his house, though yes, it's bigger than the average apartment and has a yard, garage, etc.

But I want to live around downtown, where small two bedroom houses start at around $200,000. Or you can get a small condo for the same price, but I don't think I'm really into condos.

In any case, I'm only paying $450 a month right now, and with my financial situation, that's about all that I can afford at the moment. There's an apartment building up the road that's $700 a month that I would really like to move to, but I can't afford it right now. So really, there's just no way I could buy any sort of house right now.

Yeah, but what if you've already fucked your shit up? I have a repossession that I haven't touched because I can't afford to. But it is almost 8 years old now so I'm hoping it's going to fall off of my credit soon, as many people have told me it will.

The money wasn't great for me, and when I closed I had to clean everything, but it had its perks. I remember there was a store in Florida that was known throughout the company for being wildly successful and their drivers made bank.

You have to get to a certain baseline in order to do that, though. I mean, there's no such thing as "living within your means" if you're only making $500 a month.

But I think that a single person without debts could live decently on $22K a year.

I hate to break this debate up but this was bulz worthy

To Catch a Predator' Host Chris Hansen Caught Cheating
By Kelly Fisher Posted Jun 30th 2011 10:15AM

Chris Hansen is best know for exposing Internet predators on television, but the married 'To Catch a Predator' host recently found himself on the other side of a hidden camera.

Thanks to a National Enquirer sting operation, Hansen's cheating ways were exposed when he was secretly filmed sneaking behind his wife's back while on assignment in Florida.

According to the Daily Mail, the NBC host, 51, has been engaged in a four-month affair with Kristyn Caddell, a 30-year-old news anchor for an NBC affiliate in West Palm Beach, Florida.

Hansen and Caddell were filmed having dinner together at the Ritz-Carlton in Manalapan before they both went back to Caddell's apartment. Hansen was spotted leaving her apartment the next morning.

The couple reportedly first met when Caddell worked as an intern at the NBC offices in New York.

"Chris sends Kristyn flowers and tells her he loves her, but he still doesn't seem all that motivated to leave his wife for her," a source close to the couple said. "He's telling her he loves his wife too, but they've grown apart over the years, and she's not sure what he should do."

The investigative reporter currently lives in Connecticut with his wife, Mary, and two sons, but has been sending time in Florida investigating the disappearance of James 'Jimmy T' Trindade.

Burt looks like he just beat a wife. That fat turd landed his first punch in like 2 years. And shave that thing off you head, it looks retarded.

Bol at the To Catch a Predator guy. It would have been a better story if he was caught with a kid though. As it is, still funny, but if I was writing that story, I would have said "...was caught having dinner with a female of unknown age." That way, the internets would just take over and it wouldn't matter if I later cam out and said she was 30.

Rogers with the technical submission. He choked her unconcious while the kid was trying to pull him off. If she could have survived a few more minutes, she might have been able to get a cardio tap out of him like Barnett did.

"Brett Charles Rogers, 30, has been charged with assault in the third degree, domestic assault by strangulation and pattern of stalking conduct -- all felonies --in Dakota County. He was also charged with endangerment of a child, a gross misdameanor.

His wife blacked out from being choked, suffered a golf ball sized wound on her face among smaller wounds. The couples daughter had tried to intervene after she saw Rogers strike her mother.

Rogers admits he had been drinking before an argument broke out with he and his wife. He claims she punched him and he returned force."
