I love how Josh Rosenthal just kind of looks around like, "Awww shit, guys. This is fucked up."

      What a weekend.

The Pankration tourney did not go off until today, which no one ever mentioned. So I registered for the grappling tourney saturday. It was a massive clusterfuck, the worst tournament I could have possibly even conjured... it was a "grappling" tournament, not a bjj tourney, but it was in the gi. They had shit so messed up...they had kung fu guys reffing, no one knew what was going on. There were karate blackbelts fighting in the advanced division against bjj purple belts and somehow there were a few random blue and white belts in the same division... it was a hot mess and the worst part of it is that there was no one in my division, so I didn't get a match in.

Damn Scientist, that sucks. Sorry to hear it didn't go your way. At least sounds like an amusing sight, though.

I saw "Just Go With It" today with Adam Sandler. Funniest movie I have seen in along time.

Speaking of Adam Sandler movies, "Funny People" comes highly recommended by me.

So a month ago I sold everything and moved to Asia.

Long story short, got dumped a while back. I realized I'm 26 yrs old, I wanna see the world before it's too late. Chose Asia since I'm well, Asian :-p.

Been in Bangkok for a month. Next month heading to Singapore/HK. China / Japan / Korea, etc. lined up

Just amazes me how cheap everything is. Eating 6 healthy meals a day for $10, maid service.

Game plan was to do this for about 6 months and then head to LA, I might just stay here permanently.

Cheap, the women have great attitudes, and there's seem to be a lot of $ opportunity here esp in China.

Anyone that's thinking about traveling or has the opportunity, fucking do it!

I might head to Phuket Thailand and do muay thai for a week straight.

It's kinda weird watching UFC at 10am Sunday though with the timezone :-p

Wow, sounds like quite a journey! Glad you're enjoying yourself. I've never been to asia myself, but a trip to Japan or China is definitely on my "want-to-do" list.

I actually had a lot of fun at the Arnolds. There were so many muscle freaks and fake boobs, that it is worth the trip just for that. But I also ran into several MMA fighters, including a fairly long conversation with Matt Mitrione.

I watched a bunch of the events and got some inspiration to get in shape.

Poopoo, I thought about you several times over the weekend. I went to the USA Powerlifting event, and it was actually pretty bad ass. I saw this 17 year old 200# kid squat 730. The crowd was going nuts and it was cool to see these guys get some recognition. If you are into lifting, Arnolds is your Valhalla... you flat out have to go, you will love it.

I also got to see the strongman and some ping pong (you are talking to the 1995, 1996 AND 1997 Southern Illinois U. intramural champion).

Scientist, you didn't happen to see the EIWA wrestling championships, did you? Bucknell's Kevin LeValley upset Kyle Dake. It was sad that Dake lost, but I also have strong ties to Bucknell (grew up in the area - parents taught there) so I was actually pulling for LeValley. I'm interested to see how far both those guys are going to go.

That is awesome. The one thing I regret is that I didn't do more traveling when I had the chance (before kids). Watch out for the boom boom in Thailand.

                          Was it this guy?

If so, he is between 20-23 because he is a junior. He is the only young guy with a 730 squat this weekend, I just looked at the results. He was in the 231 weight class. A single ply squat of 730 @220 is amazing. I am thinking about doing a meet this year in single ply gear, and will probably shoot for a similar squat. I will probably be at the Arnold next year, not sure if I will be lifting though. Probably not.

No, missed that. I just finished watching the Big-10 tourney like an hour ago. Dake is awesome, I love watching him wrestle. But he already lost earlier this year... his style is so reckless, it would be hard to go all season without a few losses. Not what I would call a huge upset, LeValley is ranked 4th, and Dake is #2. I actually think Molinaro might upset so people in the NCAAs. If you have not seen David Taylor at Penn State, this kid is amazing. I think he could be the best NCAA freshman of all time. He is so smooth and effortless. And he is true freshman unlike Sanderson, who took a year off to wrestle unattached to get ready for college.

No that guy was there... but the kid broke the Jr. World record, I can't remember his name... he was definitely 17 though. He had a suit on. He ended up getting second overall, but his squat was amazing. I think he only weighed like 190#.

^^I just realized I said 231 lb weight class and mentioned 220 lb weight class. The organization that holds the meet at the Arnold has adapted new weight classes. Instead of 220/242, it is now 231. In other organizations it is 220 or 242. I just wanted to post this because I couldn't edit, not that any of you care lol
