"He's the number two ranked middleweight in the world. Obviously I can't fight number one (Anderson Silva) because I’ve got to earn a title shot, so I want to fight the number two guy to do that."
"Regarding Nate Marquardt [Num. 4], he has been talking a lot of trash about me recently. That guy, he's quite a hypocrite. He's a steroid cheat, let's not forget that. He's had points taken away for illegally kneeing people himself, and then he goes out talking about me as if I'm Satan or something. The guy's an absolute hypocrite."
"He s--t the bed every time he's in a main event. He's had three number one contender fights and a title shot and lost them all. I want to fight the top guys and I think Chael Sonnen for me is the biggest possible name I could get, and that's what I'm hoping for… Nate Marquardt doesn't excite me."
I am starting to like Bisping.Comment

Question: probably for MMAScientist / Billy Pilgrim, but really for whoever can answer it:
in a Bloodyelbow column, Kit Nate just wrote:
Sadollah used twisting arm control, a very effective control technique dating back to the early days of MMA, to land a barrage of elbows on DaMarques Johnson and end the fight in the second round. I've called the move "the gift wrap" in the past, but I'm abandoning that nomenclature as it refers to another hold in BJJ.Comment

^ I call that a gift wrap or arm-entanglement position. I don't know what other move he could be describing. The arm entanglement is the only thing I have heard described as a gift wrap.Comment

if you scroll down to the comments on the BE article, there are a couple of Gifs portraying what Kid Nate refers to as a gift wrap. But I think the term "gift wrap" a lot more commonly refers to Amir's position. Grappling nomenclature is always confused, it is the same way in wrestling. Everyone calls the same moves by different names.Comment

Good interview. Brock sounds unusually down to earth.
LOL at his use of the term "ultimate fighter," though.Last edited by SPX; 03-29-2011, 05:31 PM.I heart cockComment
