2011 Off topic thread(basketball,movies,etc whatever)
I went out to Vegas last September... Was seriously dissapointed, not one book had lined for the Strikeforce card. I went to the Palazzo then tried to watch the event at Red Rocks... they have like 40 televisions and they wouldn't even put it on for me. I am sure if the event is actually in Vegas, there is more action.
Svino, the limits are definitely higher, but I have not had any trouble with midsized bets online... if you wait until the line is set, you can generally bet several thousand dollars at a time. Of course, that requires you to actually keep all that money in your account, which I have stopped doing.
That is ridiculous. So much for the gambling capital of America.
Yeah, it was gay. I was in Vegas and I had to go online to make my bets. it wasn't even a Challenger's card or something. It was an actual SF event for the LHW belt. Stikeforce: Houston.
Wow that must be the most dissapointing feeling ever.
I was highly disappointed, because I was going to drop a ridiculous bet. It would have been thrilling too, because I bet on Noons and Galvao, who both won. But Galvao was very very close, and he probably should have lost. It would have been epic watching that with by pals with a few grand on it. They would have followed whatever I did too, so we would have been so scared and then elated when the judges scored a split for Galvao. Could have been a totally different weekend.
I furthered my disappointment by playing in a poker tourney for about 8 hours and placing 6th... but only top 4 cashed. Disappointment abounded that day.
I think you are mixing up Galvao vs Stewart with Galvao vs Patino. But both were scares...split decision in one and Galvao getting dropped in the other.
It is actually the best I have seen one of these guys do against Marcelo, so props to Jake. He does get worked pretty bad, but still, he hangs with him pretty well up until he gets caught (3x). I would really like to see Marcelo give MMA another shot... He would have problems because his takedowns are not very good, but he is just a phenom on the ground. It is just ridiculous how much better he is than everyone else.
In other grappling news that no one here cares about but me, Cael Sanderson is making a comeback. He won the World Team trials last week, beating out NCAA champs Jake Varner, John Reader, and Jake Herbert.

When I was out there for the Roger-Overeem card no one had lines or was playing it on the tv's .I made one teller go get a manager and he acted like he didnt even know the event was on that night , sure . I have no proof but my guess is Dana was trying to keep Strikeforce off Vegas tvs and out of books , since the UFC puts on a lot of Vegas events and Strikeforce has never put one on it would made sense there were trying to keep their business interest, or Dana , happy .

I called several books, and they all gave me that same "What fight?" response.
I know they carry all the UFC lines and fights, just they don't do all the props and stuff according to sbjj, who frequents the place.
