I can understand that when talking about someone who is 12, but not someone who is 16. 16 year olds are not "children." You may look at them that way, but that doesn't change the fact that they're just not. I mean, I still call 20 year olds "kids" because of the relative dearth of life experience, but that doesn't mean they're really kids.

I remember high school pretty well and I remember the people I knew and I remember my own mindset. I don't feel like I was a child then at all.

In regard to the actual sexual experience, I believe that someone who's an adult could certainly care for someone who is under the legal age of 18 and the experience could be mutual, and mutually positive. I've known a couple of girls who were really young (like 14) when some 20 year old dude decided it was worth the risk to fuck them, and they're not damaged by the experience. It was just some guy they fucked.

My grandfather was 30 when he married my 18 year old grandmother. Is that wrong? Is it pedophilia? What if she was 17 and he was 29? Or she was 16 and he was 28? I'm not saying that a line doesn't need to be drawn somewhere, but I refuse to let the government brainwash me into thinking there's some logical and objective reason for putting the cut off at 18 (or really any other specific age).
