I usually take a look at Metacritic just to look at the score if it's a movie I'm on the fence about, but if it's a movie that I really think looks good then I go see it anyway. I think that's how most moviegoers are. They're not big "film fans." They just say, "Oh, that looks good. I think I'll go see that."

I think that word of mouth and critics reviews can impact the long range box office prospects to a significant degree, but I'm not sure it has a huge impact on the opening weekend. Just consider that Green Lantern has an average score of 39 on Metacritic, but it still made $53M in its opening weekend.
