Considering getting a cheapo tablet to use around the house. I don't want to get a data package or anything, just something I can connect to wi-fi with... they have some for like $60 in the paper. But I have heard a lot of them don't run Flash, which is a deal breaker. Can you watch YT on your tab luke?

Yeah you have to make sure you check the specs on them before you buy because alot of the cheap ones won't run flash(the first iPad didn't either).

If it runs Android, then make sure you get something running 2.2 or higher.

With that said, if you just want something cheap for around the house then just get a netbook. That way you at least get a real keyboard and a full version of Windows.

The one that was $67 was running Android 2.0. What's the diff?

Nothing cheap is going to run Gingerbread. The best you'll get on a mid range price unit is Froyo, but probably 2.1 to start.

I'm not sure how we're defining "cheap." If cheap literally means "around $67" then I'd say just pay a little more and buy something that will actually be useful.

Every update 2.0, 2.1, 2.2, etc etc etc has been designed to further optimize system performance as opposed to it's predecessor. Increased battery life, better function speed and smoothness, essentially it's like a system manager for a real computer.

Well you'll only find an off brand unit for "around $67". Most of the decent ground-breakers will run you at least $150 if not more depending on the memory and specs.

I mean, you can get a Nokia tablet for like $80 but it does precisely shit compared to a good HP or Samsung unit.

Netbooks cost 4x what the tab costs... The other consideration for me is battery life. I think the tab's batteries last a lot longer per charge? Is that right?

It depends on what your doing with it. If your streaming movies then no. If your just surfing the web and the occasional youtube video then yes.

It was not around $67, it was $67.

Now that I look at it though, I am not sure if it is just an eReader, I really don't know the difference, because I haven't really been paying attention. Here it is: http://www.officedepot.com/a/product...7-2-GB-Tablet/
