This event will be amazing. Not only are there two title fights, but there is something for fans who like grappling heavy fights, striking heavy fights, grapler vs striker, everyone basically. Can't wait.
Thanks. I saw that he was down to -350 at Sportsbook and said fuck it. I've always said that GSP would beat Shields, even in the past when the match was just a fantasy in our minds. So I'm going to stick to that.
Just re-watched Pierson/Riddle. It was closer than I remembered it. First round is clearly Pierson, but I think Riddle probably deserved the second. The third was very close. I guess Pierson deserved it since he did a better job counterstriking, but Riddle had his moments and Pierson was visibly gassing.
Pierson did a decent job wrestling, but Riddle really didn't go for a lot of takedowns and Riddle did outwrestle him at the end of the second.
If the Ellenberger that fought Condit and Pyle shows up, Pierson might die. If it's the Ellenberger that fought Rocha and Howard, it will be closer, but even then I favor him.
Pierson's best asset seems to be his striking. He's pretty accurate with his punches and throws a lot of shots. So Ellenberger will hopefully not waste his time boxing in what could lead to a close decision. Instead he should go to his wrestling at every opportunity and I think it will be a clear-cut 30-27 in his favor.
