I don't HATE him or anything personally, but there are just a lot more fighters to throw my support to.

I support guys like JDS who stick with their ugly ass wives even after they become rich and famous. Randy is in eternal mid life crisis mode... constantly trading up for progressively younger versions, getting tats, wearing gay looking scarves...shit like that. I don't begrudge a man his style, but it is a little excessive for my taste.

I think he was actually a deadbeat dad, fwiw. After he divorced Ryan's mom, he didn't even live in the same state as them. I don't think the reconnected until Ryan was like 20. He also has a daughter and a 6 year old. Randy didn't get Ryan into MMA, his buddies took him to a bjj club. They are tight now though, fwiw.

He gets too much shit handed to him. The guy has never strung together 3 legitimate wins in his entire career. And he hasn't done it at all in obver a decade... yet here he is getting another big time fight. His fighting style is boring. He is like Fitch, but worse IMO.

He tries to screw the UFC because he thought he was a movie star. I am no fan of the UFC's tactics, but realistically, they gave him so many handouts (the TUF show, the free shot at Sylvia, etc)... he really should have just shut the fuck up and be a good dog like Chuck. Fedor would have killed him anyway, maybe literally, so the UFC saved him again. The it turned out the holdout was because he was jealous that he wasn't the highest paid guy in the org... Then they gifted him the Toney matchup, which was like a free win bonus and ESPN commercial. It goes on and on.

He is quite clearly cheating like a motherfucker on TRT. I would stake my life on it.

Bottom line, I find nothing particularly likable about him personally or professionally, and I don't really understand why he is so beloved. So I would like to see Machida make him go away once and for all.


So basically, I don't buy his whole persona. But I still don't hate him or anything, I just don't really get why everyone likes him so much. I don't find his fighting style appealing, so that is the main reason. But when I go in search of another reason to support him despite his fighting style, I don't find anything other than he is old (but that doesn't mean shit to me, because i know he roids like crazy).

Literally getting arrested for assault? No, you're right, that's not very common. But it's like we were talking about the other day with Renzo - a lot of guys we think of as being pretty decent have done some shit that could have justifiably gotten them charged.

Renzo is totally insane. I think he is funny and he is a warrior, but probably wouldn't describe him as decent. That said, the mindset is just different in Brazil about fighting.

Story: I heard the head of my association, who is a 50 year old president of a bank in Brazil, tell my instructor to break a kids arm. The kid was always mouthy and just stirring shit in the gym and we were just joking about what a pain in the ass he is, and Marcelo goes "break he arm" dead serious as anything. He just goes, "go out there (on the mat where the pain in the ass was) and break his arm, do it." And my instructor, who is pretty rough and tumble as far as Americans go, just goes, "it doesn't work like that here, I can't do that... and I wouldn't do it even if I could get away with it." Marcelo shook his head in disappointment like he broke the warrior code or something. We are talking about a red and black belt, a stand up guy in Brazil. They just fight all the damn time, it is so much more violent. A little throat stomp or broken arm (Re Royce/Delucia) is just a fart in the wind to a lot of those guys. They look at it entirely differently.

Agreed. He is a pretty laid back guy too... it is just understood down there, if you get out of line, there are consquences. I am not advocating it at all, as you know, I think a lot of teh stuff Royce did was bullshit and I am not a fan.
