Never hurts to have the collective wisdom. I don't know that you will be able to get everyone to agree that a bet is a good one at a given line, but you can probably get everyone to agree that a fighter is going to win.
I have not even looked at the undercard yet though...
At a glance, I like Paulo Thiago and Barboza. Schaub is also kind of a lock, but I just a a feeling that Nog is going to Nog him. It may just be hope.
Anderson Silva (No. 1 MW, No. 2 PFP) vs. Yushin Okami (No. 3 MW)
Mauricio Rua (No. 2 LHW, No. 9 PFP) vs. Forrest Griffin (No. 6 LHW)
Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira vs. Brendan Schaub
Ross Pearson vs. Edson Barboza
Raphael Assuncao vs. Johnny Eduardo
Spencer Fisher vs. Thiago Tavares
Paulo Thiago vs. David Mitchell
Yuri Alcantara vs. Felipe Arantes
Mike Swick vs. Luis Ramos
Luiz Cane vs. Stanislav Nedkov
Rousimar Palhares vs. Dan Miller
Yves Jabouin vs. Ian Loveland

I have enough to win a unit on Schaub. I also don't think Barboza will have a lot of problems, but his line is so high.Leave a comment:

How does everyone feel about coming up with a consensus play for this card? Someone everyone would be comfy betting big on..Leave a comment:

Don't forget that Anderson was fighting with a broken rib against Sonnen, though.Leave a comment:

Yeah, I think Okami is the play at these odds. I definitely don't see how anyone can bet Anderson at that line. Okami is playable, but I think he is going to get sexed up. I will probably throw down a small play though just because it is so dumb.Leave a comment:

Anderson is going to literally seksumi him right in the pugo.Leave a comment:

I put half a unit on Okami at +400.
Sonnen was SO close to beating Silva . . . mere minutes away. Considering the way that fight went I think Okami is worth a small play here. LOL at Anderson being -600.Leave a comment:

Yeah he held maia down pretty well. IMO if he can get Silva down he can probably hold him down for the round, provided it is a solid takedown and he gets in guard. I guess in theory he would only need 1-2 takedowns per round to hold him down for a dec win. Anderson is probably going to come out looking like a beast for this fight though. It is in brazil, theres no way he wants to lose there. I imagine he must be training his ass off. No bet for me.Leave a comment:

I highly doubt Yushin subs Anderson. He might be able stop him with strikes on the ground or win a decision... I am with you though, I think Anderson will catch him at some point. If Munoz can drop him, Anderson can and will. The difference is Okami is coming to grapple, and Anderson probably doesn't have the submission out here that he has with other grapplers, Okami is very hard to submit. I have posted the vid of his grappling match with Maia, where really, Okami should have been given the decision.Leave a comment:

I don't know if Yushin can sub Silva, I doubt it but it isn't impossible. Yushins hands are pretty decent. His takedowns are pretty solid as well. I would be suprised if Yushin could go 25 minutes taking Anderson down and not getting knocked out. I doubt Anderson submits Okami. Anderson probably knocks him out.Leave a comment:

^ did not mean that Yushin was actually on TRT, just that he is training with Americans now (Team Quest = team TRT).
As for Yushin being a horrible matchup for Anderson, maybe. But to me, he is not as good a wrestler as Sonnen or Hendo (although Hendo and Sonnen are the only guys to take rounds off him, other than Maia if you count that), his striking is not as good as Belfort or Franklin, and he has limited submissions. That said, he has the best submission defense of any of those guys. Maybe he has enough to get him down, if so, I expect him to fare better on the ground than Sonnen or Hendo did.
That said, at the current line, you pretty much have bet Yushin. The line is definitely off.Leave a comment:

Well Yushin has always been a slow starter and nothing really happened in the Franklin fight until the 3rd round when Yushin started to get going. Franklin is lucky he won that fight, Yushin was just too young. I don't get it? Yushin has always been huge and if he was on TRT he still isn't as big Cheal. Yushin had Anderson down in the first fight and could've controlled Anderson for three rounds until Anderson decided to cheat his way out. Remember when Ed Soares wrote that manifesto on why Yushin shouldn't fight for the belt? It's because Anderson knows it's a horrible match up.Leave a comment:

Probably because he is 3-1 against wrestlers in the UFC. I disagree though, his bjj is good... no one ever said he was Roger Gracie though. I think Oliveira is only a purple belt, and that is his base. So it is a little different than Edgar being a purple belt, because it is just a supplement to his wrestling. I think he has a godo aggressive grappling style for MMA, and I think he will continue to beat a lot of ass. He is 21, he just needs to get some experience and steroids.Leave a comment:
