C'mon, you have to admit that there some extenuating circumstances here, with him having already been promised a title shot once and getting screwed by the Edgar/Maynard draw and also by the fact that Pettis has a win over him. It's not like giving someone like Lauzon a shot if he had won last night.

I assume that those are the Compustrike numbers? Interesting that they are so different from Fightmetric's, which have Bendo outlanding Edgar 100-81, and the takedowns at 5-1.

        "dominated by Guida"

When was this? That wasn't the fight I saw.

And who would you prefer fight for the title instead?

Miller/Diaz winner? That fight isn't until May. Too long. And Henderson actually did dominate Miller just 2 fights ago, so he doesn't deserve a shot either. Short of bringing Gil over, there's really no one more deserving than Pettis at this snapshot in time.

In the fight I saw, Frankie spent the vast majority of the fight getting beaten up like he was Bendo's little brother and he had just told on Bendo to his mom.

Well by that statement all the hard shots Bendo landed shouldnt count either because Edgar just kept coming forward after getting hit .

Those hard shots represented effective striking. Those takedowns did not represent effective grappling.

Compustrike is live from cageside, hence the disparity. Probably have a different definition of what constitutes a successful takedown, as well.

It's weird, because we've been accustomed to thinking of LW as this super-deep division and the best we can do is Pettis. BTW, does Maynard have a fight lined up?

So its not a TD if they get back up? Damn, someone should tell the wrestling scoring system they are all fucked up.

Yeah, there's a ton of great LWs but most of them are coming off of losses at the moment.

Yeah, the usual definition of a TD is that you have to establish control of your opponent (or their hips) on the ground, just putting them down doesn't count. Several times, Edgar threw Bendo to the ground without trying to establish control and I think that was a big mistake from a scoring standpoint.

And if you can't beat freaking Clay Guida you don't deserve a title shot I don't care what anyone says

They need to get him some tougher fights. Apparently, he's fighting Paul Sass at UFC 146.
