Santa Anita Park - Race #5

#5 Magnificat	Tactical type steps up for her stakes debut, but she might find a decent trip while spying the pace in a spot with a lot of forward/pressing types. Dangerous while in good form.
#2 Thermal	Pace has a high ceiling and fits with her better stuff, but I worry that there are going to be a few of them hustling after her throughout. I don't know...
#1 Ooty	Thought she might show better going long last time out, but she finished up the track while once again trailing the future Breeders' Cup F/M Sprint winner. Think her better stuff fits.
Race Summary	Magnificat could find a really good spot while just keeping tabs on the speedier players, and she might get last laugh in a race without much finishing punch.

Santa Anita Park - Race #8

#3 Princesa Moche	She found some good form through those 17/1 and 19/1 upsets in recent starts, and she should find a really good spot here while racing up near the top with a group that lacks a lot of early pace. Stretches them out turning for home?
#1 Queen Maxima	She's the one to beat here with some pretty solid company lines, and she has flashed enough positional pace in the past to suggest she might sit right up near the top today.
#7 Rosie Jeeks	Her form is a bit muddy, but her turf sprint tries have generally been pretty good, and she seems like one of the ones if she can fire fresh with one of her better tries.
Race Summary	Princesa Moche should find a really good spot while right up near the top in a paceless spot, and her recent form earned her this class test after handling a couple of decent groups.

Santa Anita Park - Race #10

#7 Essential Lady	Very mild trouble for her last time out might have cost her a length or two in the end, and she might not be too far off what it'd take to land this one if she can step forward just a bit here with a clean go.
#10 Bailarina	She goes first time out with a solid pedigree in tow, and I'm just not totally sold on most of those who have previously raced. Check her out.
#3 Sugar Reign	She's another interesting new face here, so I'd take a look at her on the tote and track and hope she might be able to make some noise at an OK price on debut.
Race Summary	Essential Lady should offer a playable enough price after a couple of OK, but unspectacular, efforts so far. Could see her getting a good spying run today.

3rd race – (5) La Dinamita could prevail in her first start since moving to Joseph’s barn. (7) Riddle Me Khozy might rebound with a better start in her second try. (6) Majestuosa may like the switch to dirt. (1) Pretty Geisha could sneak into the picture at the end. Betting strategy: 5 to win, place. Exacta box: 1-5-6-7.

5th race – (3) Skip Forward drops a notch and looks best in this field. (1) Little Big Man could stand tall from the rail. (8) Sweet Interlude should welcome a return to turf. (9) Surfer’s Joy might be more effective in a claimer. Betting strategy: 3 to win, place. Exacta box: 1-3-8-9. Doubles: 1-3-8-9 with 1-5-6.

6th race – (6) Gallant Knight drops off a Tampa win and gets the nod here. (5) Pet Mat fits in nicely at this level. (1) Saybrook looms a big threat from the rail. Betting strategy: 6 to win, place. Exacta box: 1-5-6.

8th race – (1) Boat’s a Rockin drops out of a stakes race and finds a level where he can have smooth sailing. (2) Send Cash will be dangerous off his best try. (3) Itza Boss will welcome a return to turf. (5) Artemus Citylimits cannot be overlooked in this field. Betting strategy: 1 to win, place. Exacta box: 1-2-3-5.

5^th race [Md 12500, 6F] – (2) Gypsy Dreaming set the pace in his last two starts and drops into this low maiden claimer for the first time. (1) Lough Currane moved from turf to dirt and has a third-place finish for $20,000 two races back that makes him a contender in here. (8) Grey Ace also drops down from $20,000 where he was second in November. (7) Natural Hunk gets a trainer change which could make a difference.

6^th race [NY, OC 80k/N1X, 6 ? F] – (4) Pantherian showed plenty of speed in his two starts for Todd Pletcher and WinStar. He was moved up to first in his debut and then was second last month in an allowance like this one. (6) Party in the Armyhas only top three finishes and got his maiden win last time in his fifth try. (2) Wamo has run well against the top two and was the one that got disqualified against Pantherian. (5) Escape Hall was an open-length winner of a maiden claimer against NY-breds.

7^th race [Clm 100000, 1 mi] – (1) Noted (B) lunged at the break and got six lengths behind as a horse that prefers to run on the lead. (6) Light the Way was a front-end winner at this level last month as an odds-on favorite. (5) Dr. Kraft has also used early speed to hit the board in a variety of races. (4) Bramito was claimed for $50,000 by a trainer that has a small barn and won at 32% last year with 10 winners.

8^th race [NY, Md 40000, 6F] – (3) Power of Women set the pace and finished second in her second start last month. (2) Probable Angle was third at 7-1 in her debut at Saratoga in August behind two horses who came back to win their next races. (5) My Devine One had a second and a third in maiden claimers in her recent races. (7) Quinns Silent Roar will drop out of maiden special weights for the first time with a third-place finish showing in September.

CATCHING HEAT - The morning line odds on this mare are higher than those of the other entrant from the shedrow of handler Asmussen. Often the longer-priced part of a 'split' entry wins. Is ranked number one in (EPS) earnings per start. A powerful effort right here will add to that bankroll. CHANDON - For my money, a bullet workout is the best indicator of readiness there is. Look at that last one - 50.2. Very impressive. This rider and conditioner have a wonderful winning percent when they unite.
